Take that same 3/4 ton truck that weighs 7000lbs with a gasser and now swap out an 800lb diesel motor and that's why the payloads are low. 2014-15 Ram 2500's have 3000lbs of payload with the 6.4 Hemi. Drop the Cummins in and it's down to 2200lbs.

Yep, that's what I drive and payload is 3200+... not at home so I can't look at the sticker

also, i have no brand loyalty. I looked at the Fords and the Chevys/GMC too. I bought based on price for the things I wanted. There was no contest in price, the RAM was significantly cheaper.

I will say this again, the days of used trucks being cheaper is long gone. With the high resell value of used trucks and new truck incentives and financing, the majority people will have a lower cost of ownership by buying new

Last time I was at the Ram dealer getting the grid heater recall done I wandered out to the lot and opened doors on a bunch. Some were pretty pathetic. Like loaded Ram 2500's with less than 2000lb CCC and Eco 1500's near 1000lbs.

I have a 2015 F350 Power Stroke Diesel Lariat 4 wheel drive package 3744 cargo (see sticker below) and checking the yellow tags on F 250 I couldn't find a F 250 over 2700 lbs.
Mine is 2750 lb's with the camper package. 2000 lb's plus 150 x 5 for each passenger. The yellow lawyer label is 2350 lb's. The dealer called their contact that confirmed the camper package weight is correct.

When I looked at the lot there where no super cab trucks on the lot. The closet I could find was a lariat with 3100 lb's which was a crew cab. That is where my 400 lb's difference comes from

I looked at Ford Fleet and towing capacity for Fifth Wheel Weight is the same for the Super Cab F250/ F 350. You are right the pin weight is effected by the equipment label. Lots of Fivers we could upgrade too keeping it at 37/38 ft max would be within the CCC of the truck.

Because of this being a daily driver for 11 more years the SRW, 6.75 ft box and Supercab were critical in the decision. By the time I retire I will probably want a new truck anyways so this will do for now, current fifth wheel, some upgrade capability as well.

But the torque of the Cummings can make all the difference in the world to move the truck, if even a bit over the CCC.

i wouldn't argue that point at all... pretty sure its a known fact that diesels have more torque

Here is a tag off of a 2013 Chevy LTZ with diesel and Z51 options where the web page said over 3100 cargo but the yellow tag on the truck said 2475. When I put the trailer below on the scales loaded with just the stuff that stays in the trailer the rear axle weight was 5980 with rated gross axle weight was 6200 of the 2500HD. Now with the F350 I have 7180 lbs rear axle gross weight ratings which gives me some breathing room.

I also notice that the Chevy locked out 6th gear in tow haul mode and the Ford doesn't. I just took a trip I took many times in the Chevy and the Ford only shifted into 5th gear a couple of times and stayed in 6th gear.

That is a heck of CCC for a 3/4 ton!! I looked at Ram when I bought my F350 but the shortest Ram 3500 was 4 inches to long to fit in my garage and be able to close the door or I would probably own Ram right now. Ford was the only 1 ton that made a short enough wheel base that would fit in my garage. Our HOA doesn't require it to be parked in the garage but highly recommends it, just to keeping the peace.

i apologize, my Payload in 3017

for some reason i thought the sticker was 3200 and the listed was 3400

Still i got the 2500 for the additional payload and 3000 is more than enough for anything I will ever tow
