F150 Ecoboost owners...

Much like Stealth I am overweight on the Rear Axle as well. I do no add anything to my truck box, just the blue hauler. With all the firewood bans I don't travel with it any longer so that helps too. I just rolled over 48,000 km, have a service plan, they change the oil, only issue with the truck was the door keypad LED on the 9/0 button burn't out.
I also came from a 5.4 in a 2009 that towed but the Ecobeast tows much better!

EcoBEAST! I'm towing about 8700 lbs loaded with my Flagstaff 8528RKWS 5th wheel. I just recently kicked it up a notch (50 HP/50 lb ft) with a Diablo Sport tuner, and that's staying with 87 octane. 93 octane tune will get you 90 more HP!

I just purchased a 2014 ecoboost and love it. Matthews Ford in Oregon, Oh. has a 2014 f-150 XL that's got the max tow and HD payload package. It comes with LT 245/75R17E BSW A/T tires and 7 lug wheels. It`s a supercab w/8` box and 163``WB. The fella I bought the truck from told me to google F150 Ecoboost Torture Test .It`s cool but I`m a Ford guy, you other guys might not like it.

For a rise in all the ecoboost people I am going to throw this out, I have a poor little 4.8l GMC ( 295 hp) you guys are spinning up twin turbo's for 70 more hp out of your engines?

No rise here, I remember when we pulled 4-horse gooseneck trailers loaded to the max with 175 HP back in the 70's!

I like messing with the V8 folks though. Every time I pull into a campground, there'll be 2 or 3 gathered around before I finish getting setup saying, "You pull that with this?"

I love my EB and it tows our little Roo flawlessly (so far). I'd be a little scared to pull anything heavier or a 5th wheel with it, but that's just my lack of experience towing. After a few years I may want to move on to something bigger/heavier, but by then I should have more years under the belt towing stuff. So far, I'm impressed and more importantly I feel very safe with our combo.

Sorry to burst your bubble but its the 420 LB-FT of torque that is the benefit with a 3.5l.

I keep going back and forth about the Ecoboost. It is the lure of over 400ft of torque available at such low RPMs in a gas engine. The Max Tow 11k tow rating is actually greater than the 9600lb rating on my 2012 Chevy HD with 3.73 gears. Seems absurd but it is true. I would think my 9000lb 34ft trailer is too heavy for this truck although the payload and towing rating are within spec and 1/2 ton owners regularly tow large trailers with few problems I have heard of. Want to be safe but also would like to get more than 11mpg when not towing. Decisions decisions!

I have a 2014 Ecoboost F150 not max tow and a 06 F350 Diesel. My trailer runs about 9k with a 1250lb tongue weight. I have hitched it up once but the F150 is definitely overloaded as far as payload weight and I didnt feel comfortable with that much weight hanging off the back. I have no doubt the ecoboost could tow it but I dont think it is safe with my family in the truck to tow that tongue weight with it all the time. Maybe in a pinch for a short run if the old diesel was down it would be ok... The F350 tows it great. I guess it is what you get used too. If there was a ecoboost in F350 I would be all over that.

What you experienced is exactly what I worry about: Buying the f150 for the Ecoboost and then regretting the chassis is not up to the load especially in difficult driving conditions. I have read Ford is working on a Ecoboost V8 for the Mustang and it would be great if they put in a 3/4 or 1 ton as a nice alternative to their diesel.

I had a smaller trailer before getting my new Rockwood it pulled it fine with no issues. It could probably do it in a pinch (if the other truck broke down) but wouldnt want to depend on it. We are headed this year from Dallas to Yellowstone and no way would i do it in anything but a Super Duty

As stated many many times on this forum, run the numbers for the truck vs your load, then decide. I bought a 5th wheel that was within all the numbers while loaded, so I feel good about mine. However, if I went any bigger, I would want something with a heavier rated suspension.

I think a lot of people would love an Ecoboost v8 in the super duty. I don't think you will see it though as it would take too big of a bite out of the diesel sales. Why buy the expense of operation and complexity of a diesel when a v8 Ecoboost would offer similar low rpm torque.

If market share is important Ford mat provide a Ecoboost in a F350. As far as cutting into diesel sales I don't that would be a show stopper. People like the Diesel and for extreme service on the pipeline or construction they would still be number 1 choice. For RV towing, horseman hauling trailers or others that drive it dry 80% of the time Gas would be just fine, a heavier consumer truck segment all optioned out.
