If it matters any, I got mine in 2012 and have about 45K on it now. I still love driving it, towing with it and have not done much to it except at a leaf spring to stiffen it up a little. It's paid off too. The only thing I wish it had was power folding mirrors. It's a challenge sometimes to find a decent parking spot (I always go for the back row). I also love the mirrors but it took some time to trust them as opposed to flipping your head around like I formally did when changing lanes.

X2

The mirrors in general have been the biggest adjustment for me coming from my 06 Super Duty. I had been driving the same style of Super Duty for about 11 years.

An interesting observation about gas engines in 1 tons.
I was working at a large urban hospital with a fleet of ambulances waiting outside. While they were all still on a Ford van chassis they were no longer diesel powered. All the fuel tanks were labeled Gasoline Only. I am assuming the maintenance and repair costs are now exceeding the fuel savings benefit.

My only comments after due consideration is I would not want to yank our LeadSleads over the Rockies or along some of those long insidious grades in NM & AZ

I went from a Super Duty (10 years) to the F150. I do not like the concave tow mirror on the passenger side on the F150. Both the large and small mirrors are concave (redundant IMO) while the Super Duty had only the small mirror being concave. I'm looking at replacing the larger concave mirror with a regular mirror.

I am hauling my 5'r with a 2012 F-150HD. LT tires are standard on the build I have. My payload is just shy of 2200lb.

The truck is also my daily driver. After 2.5 years I still LOVE this truck.

I have the standard tow mirrors and LOVE them. I used slip-ons for my 08 XLT; which were adequate at best. Combine that with the ITBC and it makes for a fantastic tow experience.

I'm on the fence about the Ecoboost too... The 2015 increases payload & towing because the truck is lighter. IMO, having even more weight & wind resistance behind a lighter truck does not sound as stable... However, in our lawsuit happy climate, I can't imagine Ford, or others, giving their trucks unsafe ratings. Yes, manufacturers are doing everything they can to have an edge in the competitive truck market, but IMO they are engineering products that are safe within the specs.

So my conclusion is that if you know you can stay within the payload & towing specs, then get the truck that meets your highest priorities. For some with longer commutes, the Ecoboost will pay for itself with lower fuel costs. For others who full-time and/or are prone to travel mountain passes in all kinds of weather, they may opt for the max. stability a 1 ton TD dually provides. Choices & competition are good. IMO we will continue to see better performance combined with better mileage.

Well that's weird because only the small (lower) ones on mine are concave. Sure wish they were power folding.

My understanding of this is as follows, ford no longer puts diesels in the e-450. Fleets want to stay with the same manufacturers and in order to stay with ford they go with the gas motor. My department stuck with ford and a gas motor and the lack of turbo lag took a little while to get used to as for what the longevity will be is yet to be seen.

I replaced a 2000 F250 V10 with a 2013 F150 EB without the max tow package. I took a trip from MN to ME and back with a 5200 lb(dry) 30' TT with full water tank and supplies for 18 day trip, it towed better than the F250 did. I love the truck. I did purchase slip on mirror extensions for it since the stock mirrors were not enough.

What I have read is that the new 6.7 won't fit in the van chassis so they put in the 6.4 back in 11 till they ran out of the engines, and now the only way to get the diesel is in a truck chassis.
