F150 Ecoboost Vehicle Weight

There seems to be lots of members out there that have the Ecoboost F150 for a tow vehicle. Has anyone had theirs over a set of scales and have front/rear axles weights. I'm real curious what the truck weighs to know it's true payload capacity...not some fictional, advertised number.

My '10 F150 Screw with a 5.4L weighs just about 6200# with a full tank, myself (150#), a spray in bedliner and a folding soft tonneau cover. I don't know the weight at each axle. I can't believe the Ecoboost is too much different. I know the new long bed Screw's have a larger rear axle and heavier frame to allow the 8200# GVW. Mine has a 7675# GVW

Have 2011 Ecoboost Screw 6.5' bed, spray in liner with snugtop shell. With myself (200#) and full fuel tank front axle weight was 3460#, rear axle 2820# Total:6280#.
FYI: as a test, hooked 7000lb travel trailer with equalizer hitch, pulled out of Denver to Lookout Mountain exit on I-70, this is 6-7% grade. Slowed down by traffic to 40 mph, passed traffic and put foot on the floor, hit 80 mph before traffic got in the way again. Had RV salesman with me and now he wants an Ecoboost. Considering getting a Windjammer 3001 or 3002, any comments from current owners?

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. What trim level is your truck? That snugtop shell you refer to...is that a cap or a tonneau cover?

So with the optional max payload of 8200 lbs, you still have 1920 lbs for extra passengers, hitch and gear. Pretty awesome for a half ton!

The last time ford updated there tow ratings all they did was raise the height of the box.
just goes to show you that tow ratings are misleading sometimes.

Imo if you don't pull mountains in regards to engine/trans a half ton can pull just fine in most cases.

I think the ecoboost is a machine. I love mine.
I am having a Leer QX put on it in 3 weeks. If you are still interested, I will pass it over the scales and report back the weights.
Mine is a 2011 F150 SCrew FX4 3:73 5.5 bed Nav Sunroof. Pretty much all options but chrome. for the 2-3 times a year I will pull my 312QBUD (8700 lbs) it should do the job. It does NOT have the max tow.

The turbo, while not a diesel, pulls great on hills; at least better than regular gas engines.

My Supercab 2012 FX4 Ecoboost is 5,700 pounds. So, the rated 7,700 GVW is right on with a load capacity of 2,000 pounds.

Most 3/4 tons only have 2400# of payload! Pretty impressive. My next one will be an Ecoboost with an 8200# GVW.

Could someone with a truck that has the 8200# GVW look on their sticker and tell me what the GAWRF and GAWRR are on that truck. I can't seem to fine it online anywhere.

Not sure I have ever seen anyone on this forum with the 8200lb GVWR. Got these numbers from a sticker photo on another forum.
Front 4050
Rear 4800

The 7700 GVWR trucks typically have 3750 and 4050. Have to be careful there to not overload the rear axle. You will overload the rear axle before reaching GVWR.

I would have guessed it would have had the same front axle rating of 3750# and a rear in the neighborhood of 4575#. I thought the only difference between the 7700 and the 8200# was a larger rear axle. Just guessing

I seen some dealer's ad where they included a picture of the data plate. With the optional GVWR of 8200 lbs, the RAWR is 4800 lbs. I don't remember what the FAWR was, not important as you'll never exceed it.

To further clarify: the snugtop is a cap and the truck is also 4x4 with xlt trim.

Yes, my 7700 F150 has a 4050 axle.

The thing about load capacity is that you never really have that much available. Subtract fuel load, 2 adults, 2 dogs and you can easily subtract 500 to 600 pounds! Then there is the tool box, the generator, gas can, inflatable kayak, . . . . yadda, yadda . . and then an 800 pound tongue weight can put you near capacity.

Since we have good excess load capacity on our trailer and tires, I try to put things in the trailer when possible. Like luggage, grill, etc. Then I try to keep that weight over the trailer wheels to avoid extra tongue weight.

Hope this isn't high-jacking the thread too much . . .

I think Dave's info is correct. I did a LOT of internet searchs. This was quite difficult to find. Here is the link. It looks like a 4,800 Rear GAWR is correct for the 8,200 Heavy Duty Payload Pkg.

Scroll down to where it says page 73 in the lower right of the page.

@dave and monica. I just got the new truck here last week. It's a 2012 f150 4x4 ecoboost supercrew with the 5.5 ft box. It has the max trailer tow package. It is an XLT with XTR package and 20" wheels. I thought that I would add this info, so all of you can make comparisons accordingly. Today I went to the scales to get actual weights that you were interested in. With me in the drivers seat (I'm close to 200lbs) and near full of fuel, the front is 3373lbs the rear 2767 for a total of 6140.These are actual weights. Heavier truck than I thought. This was at a grain elevator scale licensed for trade, so should be accurate. Also on this thread some were discussing gvwr, so here are mine: GfAWR-3750, GRAWR-4050, GVWR- 7650.
On another thread some discussed yukon xl ratings. I have a 2011 Suburban with a tow pack: GFAWR-3600, GRAWR-4200, GVWR-7400. Here is the 97 F150 4x4 extended cab for the heck of it:GFAWR-3600, GRAWR-3200, GVWR-6250. Some day I'll get the actual weights of these to post. Hope this helps.

Saskrick...thanks for the info. Looks like the true payload, whether calculating from GVWR or RAWR is in the range of 1900 - 2000lbs when you order the max payload package (8200 GVWR). Substantial compared to most other half tons were the true payload is more in the range of 1000 - 1200 lbs by GVWR. Course this always will be less depending on the amount 'stuff' that you want to carry in the truck, including the hitch. May be sufficient payload to handle a 5th wheel with a much as 1700 - 1800 lb pin weight loaded.

today i looked at dads truck to compare to the new f150. His is a 09 silverado crew 4x4 no tow pack. This makes you wonder that about the gvw's as being kind of a joke. On that truck the front and rear are both at 3950lbs each but the total for the truck is 7000 lbs. Goes to show that this truck based on what the axles can take, is just as capable as the f150. But if these numbers need to be followed to be legal, we have a bit of a joke. Lets assume the truck weighs 6000lbs empty. Add 5-200 lb guys (1000lbs), and thats it for the truck? Come on. I keep an 86 gm half ton 2 wheel drive as a farm truck. In the manual it says you can safely load the box until the fender well is in line with the top of the tire, but no more. With that in mind, I started to throw in some scrap iron in the box. I had a 45 minute drive, so I stopped well before the recommended amount to be safe. so I tought. Plus I was not near being bottomed out. The truck drove absolutely fine. After I unloaded at the scrap place, the guy said to me " only with a chevy". I had 2600 lbs in there! Food for thought.
PS I'm not recommending you do this.

This thread got me curious about truck weights, so I weighed my other vehicles for the fun of it. Hope this is of interest to some out there. These are with me in seat (190lbs) and near full fuel.
1) 1997 F150 XLT 4x4 extended cab:front-3130, rear-2447, gvwr-6250
2) 2011 suburban 1500 4x4: front-3208, rear-2998, gvwr-7400
3) 2012 f150 eco screw 4x4 XTR: front-3373, rear-2767, gvwr-7650
