I wonder what a lawyer would have to say in civil court when you're being sued for damages caused by failure to maintain control of an over weight truck. It could be mentioned that you could've stopped in time had you not been over weight. I guess negligence is negligence regardless of the cause. JMO but I think I'd rather be able to live with the fact that I did everything possible to avoid an accident. I don't like the thought of being the cause of a wreck because my truck couldn't handle an emergency situation because I was towing to heavy. We don't always have a say in when and how an accident will occur. It's better to be able to handle what situation arises than only being able to handle most situations.

I think most people that camp could care less about what there rig weighs. My son drives a commercial truck and we talk all the time and guess what we don't talk about, WEIGHT!!!

I am comparing overweight vs. overweight. Figure it out bud!
This all makes me laugh because I am sitting at a convenient store right now eating lunch. A log truck rolls in and his tie town cables were all in hooked and dragging down the road. He went in to the store, got his stuff, came back out, and jumped in his truck. I ran over to him and told him. His reply was, "huh, they sure are". All he did was grab them, hooked them on the first link, and tightened the binder by hand. But, it's his truck, not my problem, right?

lawyer
Get on the bus, If the truck couldn't handle it ford wouldn't rate it for that. And only a dumb lawyer would even try. Liability for this would actually be on Ford since they rated it to do that. Yes, if you over weigh the vehicle that is stupid, but to that this vehicle is unsafe is just being stupid. It is rated for that and it can do that, SAFELY!!!!!! Go be a worry wart where it is needed. And yes, overloading is stupid as well. He isn't overloaded.

Fact is we don't know f the OP is over or under weight. If he doesn't have the HD payload package then he's definitely over weight. His posted information is questionable enough to doubt he really knows what he has. He could've easily been told he has all the packages for payload and towing but until he tells us the trucks GVWR then all bets are off. I've been around long enough to tell if someone actually knows or just thinks they know what they're talking about.

F 150
I agree with you. As long as he has the proper packages, which would be noted on his MSRP window sticker he is fine. Must have the HD package in order to safely carry that much weight not only in the bed but the whole truck. People and all. As long as he is, there is no liability on his part unless he does over weigh the vehicle. But only he knows if he does that. Yes, I want to be safe on the road as well. But it is not the capability that sending me to the F 250 but rather the tow mileage.

How is the lawyer going to know you were overloaded, pick up all the stuff and weigh it or maybe he can get the weight police on here to lend there expert opinion. If some idiot pulls out in front of me I want him or her to still be there when the cops get there. I don't plan to swerve to miss someone and they be gone when the cops get there

This thread has become too argumentative. I thought about making it a hot-topic, but I think the better solution is to just close the thread. Seems like most have had their say, and some have had their say multiple times. The most recent remarks have done nothing to add to the thread subject.
