F250 Gasser 2 questions?

How many miles to the gallon and when towing 8 thousand pounds what tire pressures are you running.
Seems like I got better mpg with my 2014 f150 than my new 2016 f250?

With my 2010 F250 I ran 80 PSI front and rear Cooper AT 17 inch E rated.

You are now driving a much heavier truck with a bigger engine so yes your fuel mileage will suffer some depending on your driving habits.

My 2010 had the 6.4 and got 8.6 to 8.8 when towing the 30 foot lite at 65-70 MPH.

You will likely see the mid 7's, a guess on my part.

Just towed mine home from maine...2013 f 350 6.2...8.7 mpg....about 8500 lbs ..80 psi rear..60 front

The new truck such get up at least 8 or 9 miles I have a 2016 2500 6.4L and I am getting just as much when I had my 2011 1500 ram. I tow a 9500 lbs loaded trailer and get about 10 or even 11 miles, yeah the bigger gas truck will get less.

I like the fact that with the bigger truck it's more stable than the 1500 I had, with my 2500 I get 11 to 12.5 around town and on the highway I get 17 to 18 mpg but that's empty. If you don't have too many miles on your f250 it will get a little better as you break it in.

Towing my old 34' Coachman (around 7000 lbs) with a 2015 6.2L gasser, I would get around 8 mpg or 9 mpg on flat land. Stock tires, 80 psi rear, 75 psi front.
Yes, on a F150, you would get better mileage with a lighter truck with a smaller engine. I would bet the F250 tows 8k lbs much better that the F150 ever would.
What mileage are you getting now?

Stock 18" tires running 70f 80r. Towing 8k at 63 mph. 8.8 mpg in the hills of VA. 5* 87 tow tune, tow/haul with 6th locked out. Very comfortable tow.

Ok all, guess I'm doing ok at 8.8 at 65-70 mph. I just thought I would get a little more out it.

Joy and I just returned from a 7 week trip, Detroit to CO, UT, and AZ and return.
Round trip of 6950 miles. That includes towing and not towing. The overall trip odometer shows 10.5 mpg for entire trip. Running 50 psi in load range D tires. They have since been changed to LR E at 80 psi. We'll see how those perform.

My 2000 F250 V10 averaged 9-10 mpg on 10% corn when towing both my 32' Terry and 35' Flagstaff with tow speed 60-65. It seemed to do a bit better in the mountains.
Tire pressure was always set to the max pressure on the sidewalls of my Firestones at first then Michelin's.

I have a 2016 F250 SuperCrew with the 6.2L gasser, 3.73 rear end, towing a 7300# TT. I'm getting around 8.3 miles per US gallon (27 L/100 km) according to the driver info center.

The F-250 is a much heavier vehicle than the F-150 with a bigger engine so your fuel economy will definitely suffer but I've found it to be much more stable and now I'm within all the specs.

I just bought a Chevy 2500 6.0L gasser and I'm getting about the same. I've only got 2000 miles on it, so I'm HOPING it will get better as it breaks in.

My 1500 was getting 10 mph with a 5.3L, 3.73 axle and 4 speed tranny. I was hoping the 2500, with 7 more years of technological advancement, a 4:10 axle and a 6 speed tranny, would do at least as good as the 1500, but so far not looking good. But I am a lot more comfortable towing.

I had an 06 F250 with the 5.4 Triton engine. I got about 7.5 towing an 8000 fifth wheel and about the same towing one weighing just under 11000.

I just traded it for an 08 Silverado 2500HD with a Duramax engine. Haven't pulled it far enough to check the mileage on it though.

I keep the tires inflated to their maximum pressure on the truck and camper while towing. It is better for the tires and less likely to blow out one. It also improves the fuel mileage.

If you have SP tires on it you should not drive over 65 while pulling the camper. They heat up and it can cause blowouts. There are many many posts on this forum that wil tell you the same thing

But just think how much quicker you are getting to your destinations....at 10mph with your 5.3 it took you all day to get to your campsite!!!

I pull a TT that is between 10k and 11k lbs. if I cruise at 75, I get around 6.5 to 7 mpg. If I keep it at 65, the mileage goes up to about 8.

My TV tires are running 75psi and my TT tires are running 80psi.

My truck is a 2016 F250 with the 6.2 and 3.73 gears.

I have a similar truck setup with < 4K on it and I am pulling a TT weighing in at 6400 +- LBS. A recent 750 mile trip out got me in the 7 to 8 MPG range with headwinds for the first half of the trip at 63 MPH. The return trip was just over 8 MPG.

I am still learning the torque range in this new truck and around the 10K mark in it's life, I expect an improvement in MPG.

I admit I have a lead foot. I also tend to keep it in 4th gear to keep the engine in its sweet spot rom-wise. This keeps it from downshifting every time I give it gas for a hill or to pass, etc.

With the 3.73 gears (instead of 4.10), 6th gear is too tall. 5th is OK for flats and around 60-65... but any incline or speeds above 65 and 5th can't pull it. 4th gear works nicely.

If I ever had a long trip, I might rethink things.

Mine is called the Petro Pig!

Funny thing I learned while on that trip was that, with Tow/Haul mode on and running with the cruise control on, a slight incline would drop it into fifth and it would stay there after the incline. I would then gently tap the gas pedal and it would roll up into sixth gear.

I am trying everything even some crazy stuff, just to learn what works best as far as the towing sweet spot goes. Honestly I do not give a hoot about my mileage when towing as I am going no matter what.

Having said that, I do realize my wallet does give a hoot.
