Douglas Reid, I have never tried that system of removal for my @300lb Demco Hijacker Hitch because I feel that the landing gear motor and legs are not sufficiently geared to withstand that kid of stress.
Has anyone out there tried that method of hitch removal with the Demco setup?

I also recommend the B&W Companion hitch. Well made, no chucking, can be unhooked on uneven ground and gives you your full bed back, when removed.

I would also recommend going diesel vs. gasser. We just came back from a trip in the Rockies and the diesel performance was excellent, both up and down the long, steep grades.

I bought the B & W Model 3300. It cost $978. It comes in two parts making install a breeze for your truck. Just pop the 4 attachment covers and save for later and mount the two pieces and your almost done. Simple instructions to follow. 20,000 # towing capacity. After your first tow check the tension on the 4 latch pins. I’m very pleased with the ease of loading /unloading

I purchased a Curtis it has the indicator it is the Q20 because my 2017 sierra 379flok is 12k lbs works great. When I was looking to purchase a hitch I liked the Anderson hitches but the manufacturer of the frame of the Camper said said that the Anderson hitch would void the warranty.

The 300 # the hitch weighs is nothing compared to the stuff we tend to cram in places like the front storage, adding of washer/dryers, front A/C units, generators and on and on. The front legs and gear boxes won't know the difference. I've seen folks (without a clue) lift the entire rear end of the truck off the ground with the front jacks.
