Herk, the Butch's web site is under construction. I like this set up but can't find a link to buy one. I dropped mine off the hitch after making several moves relocating my RV to a different site. OUCH! $1,000 later.

I have this phone number for Butch 419-265-2506

I have not called it recently though.

The email I have for him is:
onelessworry@butchsservices.com

Well the email is no good; bad domain ...

Left a message on his phone.

If Butch is no longer making these (I will let you know if I get a response), Perhaps "Oldcoot" (OC or Neil) of "awning poles fame" could be talked into making one as I think he used Butch's concept to make one for his own hitch.

Butch's design looks simple and effective. I'd probably use flathead bolts and countersink them in the hitch plate, just to make it look better.

I worried about the bolts hitting the hitch but they clear just fine.

If you counter sink them won't the thinner hitch metal affect the ability of the cross pin to take the pin impact?

It didn't look like the bolts would actually hit the hitch, but aesthetics count sometime.

Countersinking the holes would make the plate a little weaker but since the force would be in the shear direction, the bolts would have the same strength. Besides if you hit that thing hard enough to shear the bolts, you're going to do a lot more damage to the rod and sleeves. You may even tear a weld loose.

I was thinking the force would be rotational and down rather than full shear and pull the flat heads through the weakened metal, but you could be right.

Herk, I looked at the pictures and I think I can make one with the help of a welding/machine shop across the road from me. Thanks.

I have a ton of close ups and the emails about how I wanted it modified to work better with my hitch.

PM me with your email address.
