fifth wheel hitch
Tugboat369, I remember reading that post and have to say that was my first thought that the required maintenance might not have been done so well, one of the good things to note that while the capture plate failed, the way the hitch captures and surrounds the pin did not fail and drop the Rv. Every time a post like this is made makes me even more proactive. That being said I trust the Pull rite hitch as I know how it is being cared for. Unfortunately accidents do happen there have been other post that can be looked up as well that have dropped the Rv on the truck even when secured and locked, or a bolt fails and the hitch twist on the truck bed, that was a bad one! Guess the goal is to find a hitch that you are comfortable with that you know how to operate and care for, and hope like heck nothing stupid happens.
Buy the way the original WD40 is not a good lubricant, I know this will get comments, but if you read the background on WD40 it is a water displacement product. I use it often it cleans and gets rid of moisture, then follow up with a better lubricant such as silicone or an oil based product.
