It's a short bed. But the camper has a Sidewinder pin box. I'm not looking for a slider hitch. Had one with the last fifth wheel camper and never slid it. And pain to take in and out. Had a Reese Pro 15K fixed in the 03 Silverado.

My 2020 2500 short bed ( standard bed as they call it now) also came with middle ball mount and puck system. In Sept. when I bought truck only hitch I could find was Curt A25. Very pleased with it. Center ball has GMC on case but looks like Curt an option I didn’t need. As for hight I was able to adjust from a 2007 to a 2020 truck with no problem. A matter of inches.

It's a short bed,.... but GMC / Chevy lengthened the frame on the 2020's (at least the 3500 HD version), so the 'short' bed is now 6' 9" long. I did not want a dually, which requires the long bed. The Curt A20 fifth wheel hitch works fine with the truck and our 2020 Riverstone. No need for a slider hitch, because of the 'longer' short bed in 2020 and the location of the pucks in the bed.

Welcome to the forum, Randy.

The Andersen Ultimate hitch is being discussed. If your trailer has a Sidewinder branded pinbox, the Andersen can only be used if you put in the lockout bolts to prevent the pinbox from pivoting 22” back from the pin. The Sidewinder can probably be replaced with a more traditional pinbox but if its a Reese Revolution from the factory it probably can’t be replaced by any other pinbox.

If you want to use the Sidewinder as intended - and I think you should - then you need to get a hitch that uses the 4 pucks, not a goose ball.

If the B&W Companion is available to use with the Silverado’s factory puck system it would be a great hitch to use with the Sidewinder pinbox.

7Mike, how much did you have to raise it? Is there 4 sets of holes for adjustment when mounting the legs? And which one did you use?

RRScott: I installed hitch myself because the new truck look so high. And the dealer had no clue.I wanted everything right and needed to be by the trailer to hook up and see the spacing along the bed rails. After two try’s I found the third hole down was best.Which raised the 5th wheel plate about 2inchesBut trailer is empty as we had work done on it. This spring when loaded and 1500 lb. bike loaded I will check again before leaving. My pin weight is 2400 lbs. but with bike it may change. Hope this helps

Then that leaves 1 set of holes if you need to raise it up.

RRSCOTT: That’s a roger on one set of holes. I hope the trailer stays the same with gear and bike. If not I might lower pin box one set of holes. Instead of maxing out hitch one way or the other. And if all else fails ( goose neck) center ball rated at 30000.Thats twice what iam towing

Do you know the model/part number of your A20 and A25 hitches?

RR SCOTT:
Don’t have part numbers, dealer ordered mine from GM. I did see them on amazon and etrailer. I think they just go by A20 and A25. You might look into the Q20, Q25 they have a improved head and 10 year warranty. Didn’t have them when I bought my truck. A25 only has one year warranty

Thank you for your answer. The Q20 and Q25 don't work with the Sidewinder pin box. The A20 and A25 along with the A30 do work with the Curt A series wedge. Just have to get the legs for the 2020 GM 2500's .

I used this: Demco DM6194 5th wheel adapter. Works great ... and HEAVY!

I have a 2012 Sierra 2500 and was using a Pullrite slider hitch. I have a Sierra 3500 on order with the puck system and will be putting a new Pullrite slider in the new truck. The new hitch is a 4500, but it is not out quite yet, but should be soon. Good Luck, we love our Pulltite slider.

I was looking at a Ford over the summer that had the puck system, what I found was Reese, and there may be others make a puck to rail conversion, this allows you to use your old hitch assembly, so the conversion was a lot less expensive than buying a new hitch that will fit the puck system. Now my only concern is that your truck is a 2020 and I'm not sure if it will be available for a new Chevy.

I had a B&W companion in my 2014 Ram and now I'm the proud owner of a new 2020 Chevy 3500. I choose to stay with the B&W but that meant I had to replace the bottom base of the hitch to match the puck placements.
I checked with B&W and was told about the new base so I checked Amazon and found it saving me big bucks versus buying from a local rep. Shipment was fast and when it got here setting it in was really simple and so much faster than the old Ram system.
Anyone want to buy a base for a Ram, make ya a good deal

To answer the question of the box being taller. When I measured the 03 and 2020, there only was just under a 2 inch difference. And I see that Demco has a adapter for 2020 puck system to the old rail system. It looks heavy and that would be another piece when removing the hitch. The old hitch had a little play in the rails.

I purchased a 2019 Silverado HD back in July. I also had a traditional Reese fifth wheel hitch, but opted to purchase the Andersen hitch so that I could quickly install and remove it by myself. I love the Andersen hitch and how easy it is to install and remove and line up the hitch with my fiver. Would highly recommend this purchase.(And, no holes to drill or rails to work around!)

I have heard that the Andersen hitch that the trailer sways. The ones that I have seen flex. I just don't like the looks of them. If you go to the gm dealer and look in accessories. The GM part number for a fifth wheel hitch comes back as a Curt A series hitch.
