Fifth Wheel Hitch Clearance
Is there anyone else experiencing the same problem that I have encountered. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 with a Reese 20k bolted un the bed of the P.U. I also have a Truck USA pull cover. When backing up my 41 foot trailer and need to make a tight turn, the angled portion of the pin box hits the cover rail; which damages the rail of the cover. I called Reese, Forest River, lippert, and the RV dealer, which to no help. Anyone have thoughts on this problem.

Do you have at least 6" from the bottom of the bedroom area to the rails on the truck? Is this a 6' or 8' bed?

Isn't the height of that Reese hitch adjustable?? Raise the saddle to the next highest bolt hole??

I took it back to dealer who installed it. He raided to the highest hole.

Had the issue on my 2008.
Raised my hitch and had to lower the pin box.
After I took a chunk out of my rail.
Plus I lowered my rail a 1/2 inch

hitch is at the highest. I am new to this, so bare with me. Everyone I spoke with said not to loeer the pin box. In doing so, will it put more weight on the wheels of the trailer?

I believe 5 - 6 inches if I could remember. Trailer is at the dealer for warranty work.

Well, mine is 6.5" and Ive never come close to the bed rail.I have an 8' box with a 40gal transfer tank in front, with the pump and meter on top of it.At exactly 90 deg left turn, the fuel meter just nicks the cap. This on level surfaces. I would have to have the trailer wheels in a 2' deep hole to hit the bed rails, and yes I tested this to find out. I dug a 2' deep trench with the back hoe and turned thru it.The trailer JUST kissed the bed rail, the hitch box never came close. Thats all I got!

That sounds more like the hitch box on my horse trailer than an RV The gooseneck hitch on horse and equipment trailers have the 45 deg braces. Never seen one on an RV.We need a pic.

My old 2007 chevy with a lift kit had almost 8" clearance.
My 08 dually only has 5" clearance.Both 8 ft beds .
I only had to move it to the last holes in the pin box that I had left.
Which was only a inch.

OK,I just had a brain fart. You are talking about the45 deg side braceing, that is part of the trailer frame that the pin box bolts to.These braces are parallel to the rv frame right? Or the drop in the actual pin box ahead of where it bolts to the trailer frame?

Thank you. I may have to drop the pin box down in order to accomplish my problem.

There are a lot of different sized pin boxes.Maybe you need a shorter one(moveing the pin closer to the rv) so that when you turn it 90 deg the whole pin box swings at a radius closer to the pin.A pin box with more drop would help a little, but doing that might get the trailer and tv un level.A shorter (length wise) pin box would reduce the arc that the pin box turns thru in relation to the bed rail, but it would also move the front cap closer to the rear widow of the truck.Do you have room to do that? Its like shuffeling cards!
