First 5er hitch
Bought my very first 5er hitch. I don't completely understand how it works but it's a pull rite superglide 18k. Hope this was a good decision for my short box but worried about removal in winter...

They're heavy. You can leave it hooked to your trailer, unpin it from the rails, raise the trailer and just drive out from under it leaving it hanging from the pinbox. Then, in the spring, back under it, get it close, let the trailer down just enough to touch, unhook it, move the truck forward and set it up properly then pin it. Out and back into the truck, no strain on your back.

Hmm seems like a good idea, never though of that. Thinking about putting hoist in garage but like Ur idea better but seems like a hanging hitch could create stress cracks on the cap in -50 temps?

I use an engine hoist to remove and replace mine as needed.

Wow those things are getting cheap! First ones I saw were $400 or more. That was ~20 years ago. I may need to snag one myself, I've been needing an engine hoist for the longest.

I use a chain hoist mounted on the double rafter that runs across the garage using a webbing strap I also got at Harbor Freight.
I am about $85.00 into this setup.

I was worried about chainfall or electric cause my ceiling is drywalled. I like The price of those options tho..

You are going to be punching holes through the drywall to use either. I do like that it is not permanent, as DW parks her car in that bay normally. I drop my hitch onto a 4 wheel furniture dolly and wheel it over to the corner when it is not being used.

Not on turbs option it's grounded and has wheels but yes on the other cheaper options. Thanks

Yeah, turbs option would not require anything other than a place to keep it the hoist when not in use. If I had a shop separate from the garage, I would have done the engine hoist in a heartbeat.

The fold up ones take up about a two foot area when in storage mode.
Mine sits in the corner .
