That's one of my all time favorites. I referenced it here recently and no one knew what I was talking about. These kids these days...

Ooops, it's not Saturday and I'm at work. I'd better go clean up by my truck, it's squirting again.

Just before the big catch and the catch. Oldest is holding up his finger indicating he caught the biggest on the cruise.

My truck has over 100k miles on it and has never used so much as a drop of gasoline. So, my gas economy is infinite.

Agree that some post some ridiculous mpg's. It's all relative to a degree. Trucks like the Ram Eco diesel that get 27-30 mpg on the highway do get pretty good mpg's when towing moderate size TT's.
My new 18 Ram 2500 6.4 4.10 gears gets poor mpgs in town and on the hwy. It also doesn't get good mpg's when towing. Trade offs for the most part.
I can believe this with a "optimum" condition and 3.42 or better gears, 2WD and moderate speeds. Keep the load down and tach under 2K and you will do well with the 5.9/6.7L. YMMV

We tow our trailer for the sheer fun of it, the adventure and the journey. Certainly not for the mpg! I average 12mpg at 60mph on the flats and 10 mpg up the hills for what it's worth and I'm ok with that. 16-18mpg not towing.

I could not agree with you more! I never track fuel cost and the reason I installed a 50 gallon fuel tank on my truck is so I do not need to purchase diesel between campgrounds. I have never figured a total cost for travel because I worked all of my life to enjoy retirement and that is more important than the money.

It is what it is. If you want to travel and enjoy life while you can, then it does not matter! A 2012 and 87000 miles, I think you see where I am coming from!

Bozeman to West Yellowstone

Here's a screenshot of my gauge panel. F350 SRW PSD, towing a Cedar Creek 36CK2 5th wheel (40 ft, 14,000lbs).

We drove down through the Tetons the other day (without the trailer) and we covered almost 240 miles. Now, unfortunately I don't have a screenshot, but I got just a tad over 19mph (average speed ended up being 40mph with all the starts and stops).

If I baby my 07 CTD 5.9 I can pull 23-24 (app calculated) on highway empty. That's with 60-65 mph. I use FuelIO as an app to track maintenance and fuel on multiple vehicles. Haven't gotten any good numbers for towing my 38 ft TT yet though as it's all been short trips to local lakes.
