fiver sway ? and other stuff...

Hi,
I am a newbie on this forum. In a pup now but making the move to either a Travel Trailer or a fifth wheel later this year. Just weighing out options and trying to learn...What do I need hitch wise to pull a fiver ? Is a sway device (like a wd hitch on a TT) used ??? What is the approximate cost of a fifth wheel hitch ?? If we decide on the fifth wheel, we are getting rid of the Burb, and buying a F-250 deisel.
Thank you for your time and patients..Wolfie

Wow, Where to start...

If you get a 5th wheel you will need a pickup. An F-250 Diesel is a great platform for a number of terrific ultra lite floor plans. If you get a Short bed (ie less than 8 foot bed) you will need some kind of slider hitch to move the king pin aft of the 1-2 inch forward of rear axle position. This will add about 500 bucks to the hitch cost. A standard bed (8 foot) can use a standard 5th wheel and that would be about 300 bucks for a 12000-15000 pound rated hitch. No sway control used on 5th wheels since a properly loaded fiver should experience no sway.

TTs are more flexible and can be pulled by a wider range of TVs. I would need to know more about the weight range you are looking at to make any recommendations.
