Chevy made an aluminum motor block once......the Vega. Big mistake.

I wrote 'specs' for the government at one time. Different commodity, but.......you can write them stringent or not.

I understand the need for mileage. But I bet aluminum bodies aren't a long lasting thing. I might be wrong.

If anyone's a big enough dumb ass to load bricks into a truck like that then they deserve to drive a Chevy.
Godbless.

And a side note: Don't be fooled thinking Ford is doing you a favor to increase fuel mileage and payload. It's all about cheaper production. Aluminum is far easier in tooling and the maintenance of the production equipment. Rolls of flat aluminum is readily available. China is getting majority of the steel.

That is the truest statement I have read on here in a long time.... engineers have great ideas, accountants drive the product.

Funny how GM would produce a commercial to downgrade an aluminum body when they are planning on doing the same in 2018?

GM readying aluminum body trucks by late 2018, report says

Anything that shows Ford products bad is always put out by GM according to the Ford Kool Aid drinking fans. They still say the Edsel didn't sell and went defunct because of GM.

At the least FORD did not take a handout in Canada like CHEV and FIAT/CHRYSLER did. They were drinking kook aid.

Well considering Ford was the only one that was designed to pass this test after the test was implemented, I sure hope they pass it! Don't let facts get in the way of a good argument though!

Forbes Welcome

Ford Motor owes the government $5.9 billion it borrowed in June 2009, the same month GM filed for bankruptcy. By Sept. 15, Ford needs to start paying that money back. In a government filing, the carmaker said $577 million is due within the next year, and the full amount must be paid off by June 15, 2022.

Ford received the largest government bailout in history 25 years ago with the faulty C4 transmission recall.
