urea- A water-soluble compound that is the major nitrogenous end product of protein metabolism and is the chief nitrogenous component of the urine in mammals and other organisms. Also called carbamide.

Believe it or not guys on the diesels forums have tried tricking the computer by pouring water, beer, and or pee in their tanks

I don't need to void a warranty on a $57,000 truck by peeing in it haha.

thats a good deal. I just bought a jug which is around 10 litres (2.5 gal) and it was close to $30 with taxes. I think its too much.

How many miles are you guys getting on a gallon of DEF? I let our new Sierra Duramax run down till the first warning at around 7700 miles. Tank holds 5 gallons so I figure we burned a little over 4 or so at that point, works out to +/- 2000 mpg of DEF.

It will depend on what you're pulling and how you drive it. I hear on average about 5-6k on the new Dmax engines.

I got about 8000 miles on my last fill when I got the first message. Just remember not to stock up on the fluid, only buy what you need to fill the tank...there apparently is a shelf life on this stuff.

We looked at getting it in bulk since there's 6 of us with new Dmax's, but after learning that we decided against it.

My Ford gets about 5000 miles before the warning light comes on, and I was told be the service manager at the dealership that just adding 1 or 2 gallons will not reset the system. The tank has to be topped off before it will reset itself.

Some of the truck stops are carrying it in bulk at the pump. Of course you likely have to go to the truck pump area and get the evil eye from the "real" truckers. I just make myself a note at every 4500-5000 miles to add another 2.5 gallons to the tank.

The DFW Tx area. Somebody on another thread was saying the Pilot station in N Ft Worth across from Cabellas had it in bulk. There's also a website that list locations with bulk pumps, I'll see if I can find a link.
