I agree with that assessment. For many, it seems to me that a 3.31 rear end and 23 gallon tank would serve them well. To include the 36 gallon tank in the "Max" tow package makes sense. Similarly, the tow mirrors are rather large and many buyers may find them unattractive and unnecessary. It's clearly stated on Ford's build site that they're not included. I just hope dealers make that clear to buyers ordering a new truck.

Now, to figure out if I can get the mirrors to fold automatically when I lock the car, as they do on my little Kia Forte.

Ford publishes a tow guide. That is your best reference.

Let me know if you figure that out.... DW smacks me if I forget to fold them in when I park in the garage.

Traffic on other web sites suggests that Ford hasn't figured out how to do that. I haven't asked Ford, yet.

On my Kia it's just a toggle switch, like leaving the headlights in Auto mode. Other manufacturers seem to do it, too.

Of the two, I'd much rather the Ford did it with the monster tow mirrors rather than the Kia with the little tiny ones. On the latter I use it only as a visual indicator that I locked it.

CCC = 1920#. The only thing bad about the truck is a 23 gallon tank. But, if after-market installation is an option, it's okay.

$40.2K + TTL + $599 dealer fee - $5K trade-in on my 2005 Durango with 101K miles. I ask for and probably get another $500 on that trade but the deal seems good, as is.
Chris
That CCC is good for a non 8 ft bed XL. About as high as you can get. Your choice is well optioned. I had king ranch in my last F150, lost another 120 lbs of payload with that. I have a Lariat in my F 350. Nice enough for me.

That's a little over a 100 lbs more. Every little bit helps,

I ended up with a well-equipped 5.5' Lariat with 1750 payload capacity. That's only ~200# better than my Durango but putting 1600# in my Durango is a stretch while putting 1750# in the F150 probably isn't.

I didn't look at the tires when I bought it. That wasn't something I was concerned with because they can be changed easily if I'm willing to spend the money. I assumed they'd be P tires as I saw on a lot of other trucks.

I was surprised to find they're light truck tires, at least nominally. They're Michelin Energy Saver LTX with a max inflation pressure of 44#. I think they're sort of a compromise between P and "real" LTs, but that's probably better than the mushy things I expected to drive home with.

Does Canadian registration have anything to do with it? Maybe equipment differences?

7700 lbs is not the max payload. The max payload is 1566 lbs based on the lower sticker.

I had 7650 payload package. I had same axle loading.
I towed a 8289WS with the F150. I was over 500 lbs on CCC and of course it towed just fine like everyone says. 😀😀

I had a couple white knuckle moments along the shores of Lake Huron. On the flat no issues.

14 pages about an f-150 and not one mention of Diesel. Must be some kind of record.

Remember that you cannot compare GVWR of a steel truck and an aluminum truck. An aluminum truck with a 7050 GVWR with have a payload capacity approximately equal to a steel truck with a 7700 GVWR; all others things being equal. (model, options, etc,)

Just don't drop your tool box or go in a broken car wash with an aluminum F150.

My friend just had a Shell brushed carwash overhead wash unit trash the entire top of his 2015 King Ranch and $17,xxx dollars later it is nearly as good as new.

When I bought the truck I didn't look at the tires, assuming they were P tires and I'd have to replace them eventually. I was surprised to find they are, at least nominally, LTs. They're Michelin Energy Saver LTX and have a 110T rating. As the maximum PSI is 44, I suspect they're more like P tires with a T label, but I hope they're better than the mushy P tires I expected.
