No one is mentioning the HD package.

That is not correct. A 145" wheelbase XL will have a much higher payload than a 145" wheelbase Lariat. The only true way to get the actual payload, short of weighing the truck, is to check the payload sticker on the individual truck.

For my 2014 lariat eco max tow the specs on the pdf are off by 10# from the sticker. They should be very close.

I have a 13' f150 super crew 4x4 I bought new with the ecoboost.
Sticker on My door gives me a payload of about 1500 pounds as others are saying on here (1470 actual). The newer ones obviously benefit from the lighter aluminum construction and payload should be a tad higher but it all depends on your configuration.
I LOVE the motor in this truck. I have tall gears 3.31 and it effortlessly pulls the new trailer we bought that has a 5100 pound dry weight. Figure loaded up it will be near 6000 pounds (we are lifetime tent campers and really pack light)
So only thing we are adding is bedding and a few dishes, toiletries etc.

I am pulling 9080# weighed and 940# tongue with a 2014 F150 Eco Max tow but with a 3.73 rear end. I am truly amazed how well it tows straight up a hill or on the interstate. The Husky TS WDH is doing a lot because we used a CAT scale to adjust it and a lot of weight is being transferred off of the rear axle. My truck has the 7650# GVWR and 4050# rear axle. It has zero sway.

My brother-in-law pulls a 39' Keystone Sprinter 5er with a Platinum F250 6.2l and we have driven each other rigs several times. His RV front sits a little high and at least right now I prefer towing my rig. Either is relaxing.

If referring to the Max Payload package, I intend to buy a truck with the maximum payload possible, given other constraints:
Must have power folding/telescoping mirrors (available only on Lariat or higher)
Short wheelbase (can't park the 250+" in my garage)
If you're referring to a 250 HD, I'm sticking with the 150 class.

Thanks

Unfortunately, Ford offers power telescoping mirrors only on Lariat or higher trim package. From other comments here, they apparently can't be retro-fitted.

What's in an XL that increases the payload, that a Lariat doesn't have?
