Got the truck home yesterday. It has been at the Ford dealer in Asheville, NC since Monday, November 2. Apparently the point of failure was the oil pump, with low oil pressure and flow, resulting in the front main bearing overheating and spinning on the crankshaft. This led to metal shavings throughout the engine. The engine was frozen when the mechanic began working on it.
The truck now has a complete new (not rebuilt) engine including a new turbo charger and exhaust manifolds as they apparently broke the original manifolds when they attempted to remove them.
Anyone want to buy a nice truck that has a new 6.7L Diesel engine? We are trading in the fiver and getting an SOB Class C.

Save yourelf some headaches (and money) and trade the Ford in on a Ram 2500 or 3500 SRW with a Cummins.

I like Ford, I respect Ford; but you just can't beat a Cummins. And nothing sounds like them

Or better yet, just drive the Ford.

I've seen too many people go to Class A and C Motorhomes and get out of camping shortly thereafter.

Just don't overreact and ..

Good luck whatever you decide. You deserve some

Moving to a Class C will not be a mistake for us. We had one many years ago, liked it, and know the pluses and minuses, but have been 5th wheeling for the last 8 years. The DW will be much more comfortable riding in the C than in the Ford. In fact, the new C is on order and we will tow the Jeep.

The one downside of going from a 5th wheel to a class C - especially for you, is that you're going to have to change your username ... just sayin'
