Ford F-150 did score #1 in the crash tests, but they hardly "aced" it. It was said the results were not close to what was hoped for. Still, KUDOS to FORD.

Nothing wrong with that. Ford almost did not make it but did but they are not any better off. Really does not matter who is num 1 It's brand loyalty and what you like. Just think what the world would be if every one bought Fords. Not good being like everyone else. Later RJD

It doesn't matter to me where they ranked. I drive a Chevy and have decided to just not crash.

I think this thread needs to be reported to the mods... Ford is #1.....???
Yeah, this belongs in the jokes and humor area... LOL!
I do like the acronyms though..
All I know is..My Chevy is the most awesome! They even inured a "push bumper" at NO cost.. It's on the back so my paint does not get scratched when I am getting "pushed"..

And in defense of RAM, their current design was out on the market before this test was even created.

I had a cousin that was in a frontal crash in a Tundra. Completely crushed his left leg. Nearly lost it. Months of rehab and he can now walk but has a limp. He was mid 30's when it happened. With this being said, I think it's very foolish to make light of these crash test ratings. I think GM did pretty well, but I personally could not buy a 1500 Ram and feel good about having my kids and wife in it. Granted, many people drive older cars for financial reasons that are not up to par on crash safety, so I'm only speaking of buying new. I know that in the NE Texas, SE Oklahoma area, you can't save any money buying a Ram. Maybe in some areas you can??? In my area I can actually buy a Ford cheaper in most cases.

When was the test created? The Ford is a 2015 design that was likely in the works for several years before that, so to say the knew about the test and designed specifically for it might not be accurate. OTOH, it might, I just don't know???? And the other makers designs are for the most part pretty old now. The Tundra has been the same for over a decade now, hasn't it?

Well, not quite "aced". The newest report is for the 2016 truck line only. The Ford rating was "Good" in the front corner crash test. That's not exactly 5-star. Ford did improve from 2015. Apparently, the others did not. If you saw the video of the tests, there did not appear to be a significant difference between brands. Virtually every one of them was totaled at 40 MPH.
Now, consider that the people on this forum with pickup trucks are towing at higher speeds, there is need for improvement across all of the competing lines.
Good as opposed to fair should not have Ford owners doing victory laps.

Test was created in 2012.
http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/rat...al-crash-tests
Ram last updated in 2009 with a Mid Generation update in 2013 for mostly technology stuff, nothing structurally. The next update is up in the air for around 2018-2020.
GM last did an update in 2014....and I believe Toyota was at least 5-7 years ago.

And if you don't believe it, just look in the junk yards. That's where Fords have always been #1.

The good news for Ford fans is, that for the first time ever, the body won't rust off the frame in 10 years!

Hope it didn't have Firestone 500 tires on it, Evel Knievel even said even he wouldn't drive a Pinto on Firestone 500 tires.
