Ford MaxTow differences- retake
The other thread I started to discuss this hasn't revealed any definitive information, so I thought I'd wipe the slate clean and try this approach. The main structural differences that are being argued that causes the jump in GVWR from 7200 to 7700 revolves around springs and axles. There are other things being thrown around such as different programming, cooling upgrades, etc. But I'd like to focus on only the things that would really explain an increase in GVWR- structural changes. My thought is for us to list our spring and axle codes and compare. If we get a pretty good list going, it should become apparent rather quickly if there really are different springs and axles in the 7700# package. Keep in mind that all MaxTow axles come with 3.73 gears, so we need to mainly compare MaxTow and non MaxTow 3.73 ratios (likely most non MaxTow 3.73 will be on FX4 trucks, but maybe not?) I would see it us counterproductive to list axle codes on any non 3.73 axles since we know they will have different codes from MaxTow axles. This survey should at least give us an idea of whether or not there are different springs and axles going into MaxTow trucks.
