From TT to 5 er
Guys/gals,
We currently have a lacrosse 303rkd TT. When hitched to the truck (f250 psd) it sags a little and has been adjusted by dealer after weighing the tongue at 1279 lbs loaded. Honestly it sags more than my Yukon did, which had auto ride suspension and would pick up the back end. The setup tows excellent but the sag bothers me visually. What is the best option to correct this as we are investigating 5ers and I am not sure if this will get better or worse with a 5er. What I have looked at has a pin weight less than 2k.

I have an F250 and had a hitch weight of 1900 on my 5er. I put a set of Firestone Ride Rite air bags on it with an on board compressor and cab control. Less than a grand in cost and it is worth its weight in gold. I would highly recommend them.

Good to hear, what I was looking for, so you can raise/lower rear end from the cab?

Yes. I usually run around 60 psi in mine with the camper hooked up. Keeps the truck level and driving like it should.

A set of air bags most definitely will help. I have Firestones on my dually. Didn't think I needed them until after I got them .. Best mod you can do to a tow vehicle. I also have a Viair onboard air system so I can adjust on the fly. Either brand, Firestone or Airlift will do fine. I just got the Firestones on sale with free shipping from Jeg's. Very nice addition to the truck!

We have been camping with a travel trailer since 2000 and just a month ago we pick up our first new 5 th wheel, it is 31 ft long and it is a "Lite" We pick it up on 12-28-12 and it went into storage two days after we brought it home. Soon to be taking it for it's first trip to Georgia.

rockwood, what make of fifth wheel is that?
It looks like it is made for a short-box truck, as the fifth wheel overhang is much shorter than usual.

It is an Open Range "Light" It is design to be pulled with a 1/2 ton pick up with a 5.5 foot bed, my truck has a 6.5 foot bed.

My 2500HD started sagging when I bought my new 5er, My old one was almost 400 lbs less hitch weight. I was looking into air bags but I was not quite sure i was not convinced as to everyone that has had them that I know around here say they started leaking within the first year or 2. After doing much research I have decided to go with the Roadmaster Active Suspension Roadmaster Active Suspension Kits | Helper Springs | Overload Springs I think this will help with my problem, there is a review on youtube and check it out before you make your decision. I found them for 315.00 including shipping. i hope this helps.

the leverage of a bumper tow is a whole lot greater than a 5er therefore more apt to sag

We had to put the bags in for the sag. We have the same TT as you and the same TV. It helped tremendously. Truck rides very level now with as little as 10-15psi in the bags. We recently just bought our 5er so we are anxious to see what it will take to keep the rear up.
