Simply cross the state line in any direction and it will get better; not much hope for our roads

Is the 5th wheel hitch located above, behind or forward of the center of the rear axle..? Above could be an issue if your light, behind the axle is never a good spot. You should be forward of the center line of the axle.

Looked at that. Receiver is above the yoke on rear end. Companion puts pin just behind the axle centerline. Thought that was the problem, but that's where it should be according to b&w instructions.

The first state that popped into my mind was "Louisiana", even before I looked over to see where your profile said you were located at.

I'm betting you can resolve it once you go across the scales and see your actual pin weight. I can tell when mine is light as the ride is less than desirable. If I had to guess, you are light on the pin.
FWIW I have my B&W Companion (3500) mounted as far back as it will go and have no issues. I'm 99% sure GolfMedic has his as far back as it will go as well.

Hope I did this right(Doug?). Weighed truck with me, full tank, an assorted junk(200lbs). 8100lbs. With gvwr of 10000. Gcwr 24500.
Steer axle 4700lbs.
Rear axle 3400lbs.
Hooked to camper: 21340.
I know I'm over as is, but how do I figure the pin wt using these figures?

Unfortunately, that's not enough information. We can tell how much your camper weighs (21,340 - 8,100) but that's it. We need to know what the truck itself weighs when the camper is hitched to it to be able to subtract the "unhitched truck weight" from the "hitched truck weight".

The reason that you want to get axles weights is so that you can find out where your rear axle falls in relation to it's GAWR (gross axle weight rating).

-You need weight the TV front and rear axles empty
-weigh TV front and rear axles with RV hitched up
-weigh RV axles all while hooked up

Hitched
1) Front Axle-
2) Rear Axle-
3) Trailer both Axles-
4) GVW Truck= 1+2
5) GVW Truck and Trailer= 1+2+3

Unhitched Truck
6) Front Axle-
7) Rear Axle-
8) Truck Weight (6+7)

Pin Weight calculation as follows
9) 4 - 8= Pin Weight

Total Trailer Weight
3 + 9
Its a little confusing how I presented it.

I'd argue, it's strangely a little confusing no matter how it is presented. ( )

I was thoroughly confused until one day it just all kind of clicked. Don't know what I read that it finally made sense, but it happened.

Going back to the scales Sunday! Camper's setup on intracoastal waterway(crabbing, fishing, family and friends!!!) or I'd do it this afternoon. Post additional weights Sunday eve. And she's still chucking!
Thanks everyone!
