Also lets keep in mind a BIG factor here is rear end gear ratio!

If the op's titan has low 3's it'll make the mpg while towing way worse than one in the upper 3's

3.50 gear ratio or better for towing that kind of load.
With a 3.73 being the best all around. Imo of course.

Well since I can now see that my issue is not nearly as bad as I thought, i guess I will put a few extra $$$ into upping the horse and torque to help out. rather only have 1 (camper) payment a month if i can rather than 2 (truck) if I don't have to. Might turn camping into only being able to park it in the back yard.

I budget for 8 MPG and if I get higher I'm happy. I have averaged 9 over 9,000 miles with a low of 7.25 and a high of 10.6. Recently averaged 8.9 over 3,000 miles from Indiana to Phoenix including a 10 week tour of Colorado and Utah. The mountains didn't affect my mileage at all as what I lost going up was made up for going down.

That was particularly true back in the day of 3-speed slushboxes. Now with the advent of 6 and even 8 speed trannies, the rear axle ratio is not near as important. With that many gears, you can get the best of both worlds.

speed definitely makes a difference. Probably safe to say you loose about 1mpg for each 5mph over 60. Lots of air to push.

We got 9.93 calculated and the truck readout said 10.0. Closest it's ever been. We have the 5.3L with a 3.23 Rear End.

My experience has been that towing a tt cuts my gas mileage in half. My current Tundra gets 7.7-7.8 mpg at 60 mph pulling a 32' tt. Terrain of course makes a difference.
My prev. was a 4 Runner pulling a 26' and the results were similar. Could only go half the distance on a tank.

a 32ft trailer with a Tundra? WOW. And it gets up to 60. Sorry, couldn't resist. That just seems like a lot. I have a 30ft trailer and a 1 ton diesel. If I didn't have mirrors, I wouldn't even know it was back there

OK, all kidding aside. You are very correct that towing a tt cuts mileage in half with most any gas truck. With my 2014 1 ton Chevy Duramax, I get 20MPG empty, about 11-12 towing.

5.7 DC Tundra 4.30 dif supercharged. Pulling 9k+ 5th wheel @ 60 mph I average 11mpg hand calculated. hwy travel with a empty bed I can get 20mpg @ 65mph. The faster I drive the MPG goes in the toilet real quick.

Hmm...was considering the supercharger kit ourselves with our new 28ftr. Already got blessing from DW- just think she'd burn the hydes of the tires at every light!

more horsepower does not increase your towing capacity, more truck does. I'd rather have too much truck and have lots more control of my load.

Unless you are on the road towing that TT an awful lot, I would not take on a new TV(Tow Vehicle) payment. Fuel costs when camping would not add up to offset the new TV payment I wouldn't think. As OC has said in other threads if your TV is rated to handle what you are towing safely, keep your TV and suck it up on the gas mileage when towing. The new truck (and a payment) isn't going to improve your mileage that much. Now that I have preached about what I think is sensible I have to admit 'if something bugs me enough I will spend the money even when DW says "You don't need that". Your TV is 9 years old so maybe it's time for a new one (that's the excuse I would use with my DW, of course I also know she knows what I'm up to).

If I want to ROLL in my rig - I can do 65-70 (right at the tire rating) and I get 8MPG. Drop to 60-65 and it goes to 10MPG
drop to 55-60 and it goes to 12ish

At 55 I feel like folks on bicycles are passing me though - OTOH, DW and I have great conversations and in a couple years when we retire, whatthehellelse do we have to do? :rollback:
