Having been in the oil patch for last 15+ years all my company trucks have been oil burners. They are (IMO) more enjoyable to drive when towing than a gasser but a gasser will also get you there. Diesels just work less to get the job done.
That being said , I couldn't afford my first diesel until I bought my current truck in '11. Kids in college and such. So I get the economics behind buying a gasser due to the upfront money.
The main thing is to get "enough" truck gas/diesel to haul what you want to tow today and possibly in the future so you can get out there and have fun.

A set of eight OEM injectors for a 6.6 will run you just shy of three grand for the parts. Add labor. Injectors are not something you have to replace everyday.
