GCWR for 1999 Silverado 1500
Newie here so please be gentle.
I am trying to find the GCWR for my 1999 Silverado 1500 but haven't been able to come up with it. From the door panel the ratings are GVWR 6400 lbs, GAWR front is 3925 lbs and GAWR rear is 3750 lbs. This I understand. From the owners manual, the max trailer weight is 7500 lbs although that seems some what generic and not dependant on how the truck is equiped.
I have also tried to look up some of this information on-line and have found the towing guides at trailerlife.com but am a little skeptical about the numbers. The 1999 version lists all Silverados with the 4.3L engine only. In the 2000 version, I assumed the 1999 and 2000 Silverados are identical, which lists a trailer weight of 8500 lbs but with "heavy duty tow package required". The 2007 verision for the "classic Silverado" says 7700 lbs with the "factory towing package".
My truck is equiped as follows:
1999 Silverado 1500 Extended cab 4X4
5.3L engine
3.73 : 1 axel ratio
Factory installed "Z82 Heavy Duty Trailering Special Equipement" which I believe includes the "Z85" heavy duty suspension.
Can anyone help me decipher all of this? Do I just add the truck GVWR to the max tow weight?
