GMC Denali w/6.2 liter engine

DW and I are looking at a 2019 6.2 liter Denali to tow our Flagstaff Microlite 25 RKS. Does anyone have any experience with the 6.2 liter engine to share?

Heck, that TT is within the specs of my 2019 Chevy Colorado with a 3.6 V6. Should be no problem with the 6.2 V8

My brother in law has one in his 2017 Silverado and has had no issues that I’ve heard of. Plenty of power to keep up with us.

I have a 2012 GMC w/6.2l, but it has 3.42 gears. I believe the newer one's 3.23 is the only option. It's a beast and mileage towing is not too bad.

Safe and happy travels.

Really... a 2019 3/4 ton GMC Denali SUV has a 6.0L engine? What am I missing?

There is nothing in this thread that mentions an SUV.

You are 105% correct. My bad. I guess that's what I was missing. Sorry.

I was gonna answer, but I figured you'd drive over and beat me with a stick.

X2 and very expensive! I had this engine and the gas costs were painful! Also, compare the tow rating for the 6.2 versus 5.3 engines.

Not necessarily true. Lower elevations, yes; higher elevations, no.

I live at about 5,5k feet and 86/87 runs just fine in my truck. As I'm going down the divided I will put in higher octane gas. Closer I get to sea level, it's definitely premium.

Get the Max Tow package and you get 3.42 gearing.

I have a 5.3 and it's painful pulling just 5000 lbs in the mountains. That's why my new truck will have the 6.2. As for premium gas, it's only 20 cents higher than regular here in Alaska.

I thought about the new Duramax, but my truck is my daily driver and there are short distances involved. Also, this being a new clean sheet design, 2020 owners are going to be the guinea pigs that help GM figure out what needs to be fixed in future years. There is also no Max Tow package available with the Duramax.

Denali is the trim package. It's available on the SUV and the pickup. OP never said which he had.

DW has a 2006 GMC Denali which is the Yukon XL SUV. It has the 6.0L engine which is really the 5.3L engine with an overbore. (All the engine accessories and parts are identical.)
