I have a relative that had a mid 2000s (maybe 2005) Dodge with Cummins and I will never forget his rants about it. I never paid attention to what the problems were back then but he learned to hate it.

Guess who won that argument? So when it goes bad, the VP44 winds up getting no help from the dead lift pump and has to suck fuel all the way from the tank, which it will do for a little while, but wasn't designed to do at all, hence the expensive failure. So if you have a Cummins Ram and the lift pump hasn't been relocated to the tank yet (or replaced by a good aftermarket one,) do yourself a favor and do it ASAP...

I am on a Dodge/Cummins forum everyday and have yet to hear about a single engine failure horror story. In fact, the 5.9/6.7 Cummins engines are well known to run 500,000 miles and more. The guy just bought a new truck and we should be happy for him instead of being so critical.
