I have the Garmin 760LMT. It lets you switch between RV mode and Auto mode. In RV mode, you input your height, width, weight, total length etc. and it will take you on roads mapped out for RV travel. In Auto mode, anything goes...So far, it hasn't steered us wrong. I do, however, go onto Google Maps and look at the route to get a visual of where we're going. I do modify our route from time to time if I know the roads or if I know a shorter way to get where we're going, the GPS will recalculate and catch up.

Google Maps on my Android phone is all I need to date. Use in satellite view mode, but there are others available.

But then I'm only towing an A-frame with a minivan.

All depends on what you're looking for. Portable, installed, on the phone, etc...

Currently I either use the 10 year old aftermarket navigation head unit I installed in my truck or the ones on my phone (depending on which one I feel like arguing with that day.) On the phone I also have 2, either the 4 year old full maps app I bought that doesn't use data, or the google/apple maps that does use data, but is more current.

Unfortunately, none of those are 'towing aware' so I've occasionally hit a spot were I've gone straight and let it re-route because I just can't make as sharp as a turn as it's suggesting.

That's why I'm thinking about replacing my failing head-unit with this one:

DNX571TR | Navigation and Multimedia | CAR ENTERTAINMENT | KENWOOD Electronics Canada

Just waiting for tax-return season to see if it's doable.

Mine is a Garmin that has lifetime maps. You can enter in the weight, height, width, over all length and number of propane tanks. You can then indicate your preference for routing on the road such as no toll roads, tunnels, dirt roads and no U-turns. You can than indicate if this is an RV/trailer and or car which will route you differently depending on combination picked. We have had this unit for 6 to 7 years with no issues what's so ever. I would buy this again.

Rand McNally TND 530. Comes with lifetime maps and traffic. Also has wifi so you can connect to your hot stop and get live weather and traffic updates.

I'm a OTR driver and it is invaluable to me when driving my big rig.
It's not perfect, no gps is but it's close.

I just use it in auto mode when RVing...

The Garmin 760 also functions as a hands-free device for your cell phone and has a free app for your phone that works as a gateway between the unit and the internet (to get more than just the over-FM-radio traffic data). A wireless backup camera is also an option so you don't have yet another display on the dash.

I just got the Garmin rv760 from Santa... Holly cow is it a large display! But that aside it seems to be working just as well as my previous 4 garmin over the years. I like the rv side where it adds all the characteristics of the combo of truck and trailer for routings as well.

I am using Copilot on both my iPhone for local stuff and on iPad for long trips. I have been happy with it. No data connection needed as the maps are downloaded to your device. All the updates have been free.

We use 760 LTM Garmin. Portable and we use it our Jeep as well. Gets kinda jumpy in big cities. Plan on using your smart phone as well in larger cities. Otherwise works great, provides alt routes, traffic reports, etc. read up on it.

Santa brought me a Garmin 760 for Christmas and it is big, but it works well so far. It does take up a lot of windshield space, with my new dash cam and TPMS and backup camera

I've had the 760 for while and didn't like it on the dash or windshield because of it's size. My F350 has 4 cup holders and I used a cup holder adapter like in the link below to mount my 760 GPS.
