Question Grand Cherokee to Ford F150

I am thinking of changing my tow vehicle from a 2005 GC to a Ford F150 Crew Cab pickup. The hope is that the added wheel base will make the rig more stable in cross winds so that my wife will be able to drive it too. The GC has wheelbase of 109" and the F 150 has 138". The GC weighs in at 4700 lbs and the F150 at 5200 lbs.

Already have a Reese Dual cam system on the trailer which is FR Palomino G210 having an all up weight of 3600 lbs.

What do you guys think??? Will it be more steady???

Thanks

I have a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew, 139 inch wheelbase, 4 wheel drive. With hard bed cover, it weighs 6200 pounds. I tow a 7000 pound toyhauler, mostly in the mountains. I have no problem with stability, and use a Reese Dual cam. Just make sure you readjust your hitch to the new truck. By the way, I might get 10 miles per gallon towing. I think you will enjoy towing with the truck more. As for the weight police, yes, I know, I'm very close to factory limits.

You will notice a big difference. Weight and wheelbase are huge factors. I have an F150, pull 5,000 pounds of trailer and have Reese Dual Cam. No towing issues whatsoever (outside of the 10 mpg!).
