I had that same truck (04) with the old 5.4. (4x4)
My CCC was 2900 then.
Awesome tow vehicle for an upper middle weight truck.
10 3/4 semi floater rear end.
I would tell folks I had a 3k payload in my F150 and they would tell me I was nuts.
I loaded my Polaris Rzr in the bed and towed a small hybrid trailer.
Beautiful ride on he hwy.
Only 1/2 ton I would tow a 5-er with.
7 lug also- only wheel manufacturers for aftermarket were Eagle and Centerline.

I'm guessing only two doors helps. Anyone know the weight difference between an extended cab and a super cab (super crew f150).

Nearly any tow vehicle will tow anything you hook to it.The trouble starts when the **** hits the fan and you are in an emergency situation. Most people tow with an inadequate tow vehicle.

Keystone brought the High Country version of the Montana line out as 3/4 capable. As their published pin begin over 2300# it will be most likely a gasser and who wants to pull 13,500 - 15,200 with a gasser? Most 3/4 diesel trucks payload is only a little over that PUBLISHED dry pin weight.

I'm just breaking in my f150 with 2439lb payload. You have to get the max PAYLOAD package, hard to find. I saw one while I was shopping with a 2583lb payload, but it had the 5.0 and I wanted the Eco boost. I was 140lbs over (fully loaded with water) with my 2011 f150. It had 1824 payload. My dry pin is 1027 in the brochure and about 1200 loaded up. Dry weight is 7000 and GVWR is 9100. I'm probably 8000 to 8500 loaded. Iit can be done, but you need to find the right trailer and the right truck. I used to sell Rvs and I had many customers ( and my managers) angry when I explained it to them. I saw way more overloaded one tons though.

Thats the problem with the door sticker. It is the actual weight off the factory assembly line. Then you add dealer installed options (2nd air conditioner, propane in tanks), then you put your stuff in there and water in the tanks. Your truck payload allows, If I remember correctly 150 lbs for the driver..... not the wife, kids, or dogs... I looked, did the math and the Forest River Avenger 5th wheel HT was too heavy for a 1500 Ram and upgraded trucks...

My 2500 Silverado gasser is rated to handle 14K as built but I would not be comfortable pulling that load. You are getting good information here.

A half ton with a 2400-2500# payload is greater than the F250 with 6.7 I used to have. The payload on it was 2247, not good enough for my last and far from my current 5er. ThT F250 was a 2016 with only the XL package.

I guess there are a few few dealers that have your back concerning your TV. Ours asked what I was planning to tow our TT with before the sale. Then before we signed on the dotted line she informed us that we had to have an electric brake controller installed before they would let us take possession of the TT.

After reading so many of the posts here about how dealers don't know or care.. I feel pretty lucky that our dealer is extremely proactive about safety.

We towed a similar trailer with a similar half ton( a Chev Silverado) for 3 years.Yes the truck could do it but it was not much fun. I personally believe that the truck which had a max tow rating of 9750 lbs would have had less trouble with a tt due to the lower clearance.
The 5 th wheel is 13 ft high and pushes a lot of wind. Headwinds were horrible. At the weigh scale the trailer loaded and going down the road outweighed the truck by nearly 3400 lbs.We struggled with it kept close to home for 3 years but have now gone 3/4 ton Ford diesel
I predict if you pull the trigger and use the half ton eventually you will too.

Time-Travelers, where/how did you get that weight ticket? Not quite certain how to read it all but I do see that it is extremely informative. Mind giving a little explanation?
Thanks!

The company RVSEF was at the FROG Rally last year and they weighed our rig on site. They weighted the truck separately and then each individual tire with our trailer hooked up. If you google RVSEF Safety doc com, you also can find other available locations. Our cost was $60. Best part, all our numbers came back in the GREEN!!
