Haul Master WD hitch

Need to get a weight distribution hitch. Harbor Freight has a good price on a Haul Master set up. Is this a reputable brand? Says it is rated for up to 10,000lbs. Any other advise?

Thank You,
Ryan

I have no personal experience with the Haul Master, I do however have experience with Harbor Freight and their Chinese made products. I find the quality of their items to vary between acceptable to junk, varies depending on item I guess.
One thing I do know for absolute certainty and it is advice I will give out and always live by,
if your job or your life depends on it, go with something better!

Ryan,

I have a Blue Ox Sway Pro for sale (listed in the classified section) that I will sell for $300 (goes for between $500 and $700 new). I only used it four times before upgrading to a Hensley. Let me know if you are interested (I am certain that this will be a far better quality hitch than one from Harbour Freight).

Seems like a great deal! And being Nissan OEM stuff I am sure it is much better quality than harbor freight!

There is no sway control in that setup so if you need make sure you get that as well.

I will go 1 step further that RhoZeta's comment, and advice to get a a WDH with integrated sway control like the Equalizer, or Reese Dual Cam. Friction bar sway contol does not seem to work as well on long trailers. Also, you need to size the WDH to the tongue weight of the trailer. You have also failed to mention what tow vehicle you will be using.

You might need to do a little more homework before heading down the road.

Tow vehicle is a 2004 Excursion with the 6.0ltr diesel. When I towed the trailer home without a WDH or sway control, the thing towed straight as an arrow. I know how to handle trailers in all conditions, I am a truck driver and have towed everything from 28' to 53' trailers and doubles for 17 years.

I already purchased a sway control to add with the WDH.

Thanks for the advise.

Ryan

Well I ordered from the link below, and everything looks good. Will be putting everything together soon after I get the proper drop hitch for my tow vehicle. Been doing lots of other work to trailer.

Not trying to jump on you but this comment scares me because you are on the defense - "I know how to handle trailers in all conditions",

The guys are only commenting on what you asked for and trying to give advice based on what info you gave -

Congrats on your find - am thinking it was probably a better deal then what you would have found at Harbor Freight -

I watched the video and they said they got them from a foreclosed warehouse -

what kind of warranty do you get with that Hitch?
How big of a trailer are you towing?
