Your really expecting a lot out of a gasser truck.

If you can find a V10 Ford 1 ton truck, then you are where you need to be.

You will not like the towing experience of the Chevy 6.0 with that much weight. Yes, it is capable of doing it, but not real well, and the mileage will be extremely bad.

Diesel is really the way to go for towing a fiver. The pin weight will also be well over 2000 lbs (figuring 20-25% of trailer weight) so you will run out carrying capacity in even a 3/4 ton truck.

I talk from experience having an 8900 lbs dry fifth wheel that had been towed with a Chevy 6.0 truck, now a Dodge Cummins diesel.

I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 with the 5.9 Cummins under the hood. My TT is a FR/Wildwood 27BHSS I have no trouble pulling it at all with my truck. I would stay away from 1/2 tons. Look into a 3/4 or 1 ton. If you are going to go with gas then I would go with a V10 other then that Diesel. As far as what TV you get ( GM,Dodge or Ford ) I would look at them all. If your going to look at a diesel I would stay away from anything mid 2007 and up. They are all having trouble with their engines because of all the junk that the EPA makes them put on the trucks. ( DPF,EGR's ETC ) Stay away from anything with a DPF and you will be fine. If you do go with a diesel let me know and I can help you out with picking a good one.
