You think hauling it is the worst part? Just wait until she wants to tag along on every trip now. just kidding. There are plenty of camping weekends and you only have one family. Kudos to you for helping her out.

PS are you sure the camper is ready to tow? I'd take some basic tools and an air compressor at a minimum if the storage lot isn't close to home. Be a shame to get there and have to run back for something.

Ha! We actually have 2 or 3 camping trips planned this summer together (she was going to bunk up with us before this). Fortunately, she's a much more experienced RV'r than I. She had a RV with her ex-husband (who kept custody of it).

But now- I found where this is going to cost me. "Oh, I'll pickup one of those adjustable ball mounts"- I thought. Gasp, choke, gargle - holy crickey these are expensive!

A big 10-4 there on the family. Lost my only sister when she was 33. Loved to go camping with her and my mom and dad. All are gone, so be thankful you have her.

True dat. We're coming on my the 2nd anniversary of my Mom's death (she was 57). Sister and I are both early-mid 30s. The one good thing of Mom's passing is that sister and I have become incredibly close. We text, email or talk on an almost daily basis.

^^^ I fixed that for you.

Let's just say, I've grown up a lot over the last 10 years.

The deed is done. I dropped the money on a really nice 10" drop Rapid Hitch rated for 10,000 pounds (the trailer had a GVWR of 6,500 so I wanted higher than 5,000 pound ball/hitch).

The tires were bad. Really bad- like, I'm shocked I didn't have a blow out on the 45 mile drive (which, speaking of- she did change the destination to her boyfriend's house so he can help fix it up). I refused to go by highway and no faster than 40mph. No issues- but I did bottom out her rear stab jacks 4 or 5 times. The camper really sits low.

Like most good deeds- it was fraught with frustration and confusion from it not being road ready to the tires to her boyfriend arriving over an hour late due to bad directions. In the end, I left for camping at 4pm instead of noon.

But, no one was hurt and nothing really bad happened. She has a laundry list of things to deal with and is super excited!
