Looks like you were backing up or you came to a stop and the trailer brakes were not holding the trailer, what I see occurs when you back up or the trailer over rides the truck and pushes it. I've been using mine for nearly twenty years now.

I do have a guess that I came up with a coupe days ago....
The dealer we bought the TT from installed the Hensley while we did the PTI. I was a little bummed as I wanted to watch the hitch installation... anyway...
The first clue should have been when the guy said "oh, a Hensley. Those are a pain in the ass." I figured I would have some adjustments to make when I got home, no big deal. When he installed the snap up brackets, he didn't move the propane tanks. he simply installed the brackets as far forward as he could. This put the chains at an angle between the brackets and the weight bars. When I got home I measured the angle and they were right around 20 degrees from plumb favoring pulling the bars towards the trailer and subsequently the head as well.
When I spoke with Terry I asked about the angle of the chains and he said a little is OK. I figure 20 degrees is to much so I called again and I can not remember who I spoke to but I inquired on the distance from the coupler to the front of the snap up bracket. Its the same of the jacks but I was told I can cheat it forward a 1/2 inch or so. So that's where I set them, at 25" which meant moving the propane tanks. They were sitting around 26.5".
Now that I have all that done the chains are almost perfectly plumb.... But I hypothesize that the angle of the chains was pulling the head back due to tension that wouldn't normally be there.

Trailer tongue is not "horizontal" in the pic, but is pointed somewhat UP. The receiver of the truck is also not "horizontal" but is pointed somewhat UP. That tells me they are not "in line;" truck is rotated in relation to the trailer.

Its the picture. That section of my drive is perfectly flat. It has 0% fall on either plane. I just rebuilt and regraded my drive.
I can see what you are seeing, though. It does look like the TT tongue and the truck hitch are pointed up...

Well if you think that the rig is in a straight line then you have experienced the "Hensley Bump". Sometimes the truck stops but the trailer keeps going. If trailer brakes are not set right. This also can happen if traveling downhill and stop, trailer rolls forward. Hitch head and stinger head swivel within each other for those not familiar with Hensley designs.

Yes, good guess. Ive been told about the "Hensley bump."
Problem is... I can be going forward, in a straight line and the hitch stays in that position. I even attempted to see if manipulating the trailer brakes would pull it out and it did not. Gain on 10 and manual application of trailer brakes only ended up bringing everything to a stop, with the head in that position.

Is this the Cub model or Arrow? It could be that the snap up brackets want to straight vertical Did one of them slip? There is a tab between the two swivel heads that locks them together when the stringer is not inserted. Its not interfering with the operation is it?
I have never found Hensley to be a pain in the arse. Except lifting it to install! And really I felt more in the back .

I did, just hate when I mess up a quote. It still did not work. Eh...
Like what was just said, make the trip to the manufacturer. That has "All Wrong" written all over it.

I'm not yet convinced it was not due to the less than ideal placement of the snap up brackets by the TT dealer. I wont know that until I get my 12v system put back together so I can pull it down the road.
IF it is still not functioning as it should, than off to Hensley I will a-go.

No, but I did remount them so the chains are more vertical. They were installed @26.5 inches rather than 25.5. Based on the advice from the Hensley office I installed them @ 25".

Functions as it should.

Thats what I have a tractor for!!
In all seriousness... I do think the 20 degree angle on the chains contributed to, if not was causing, the issue. It didn't dawn on me until a few days ago prior to moving the brackets and I had all but forgotten it when I created this thread.

Yet, you contributed to the 15 minutes you lost by composing a post.
BTW, a little with the "15 minutes" comment.
If it took you 15 minutes to get to the point you composed a post, perhaps the "15 minutes" you lost shouldn't be your biggest concern.
