230,000 on my 06 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax. Torque Converter Has been slipping the last couple years but keeps on trucking. Got the new converter to put in, just waiting on my brother in law to tell me he is ready to put it in. Gotta love family that knows how to do that kind of stuff.

The good ol converter shudder. When i get on it in say 4th, 5th, or 6th gear when at a cruise the rpms jump and and it gives a shudder i guess is how you would say it. If the trans slips it will throw codes and go into limp mode. If the converter is going out or slipping it does not throw any codes and keeps on trucking.

You know I haven't looked at it here lately but last I looked it was good. Smelled good or not burnt smelling. I got five gallons to put back in it along with a Trans go Jr kit and getting a shim kit from my brother in laws Trans builder. Probably one of the best if not the best with the Allison's.

Reading along and this comment caught my attention. Want to know why it's hard on a truck to let it sit. Mine sits every winter and has sine 1997 with no ill effects, I do prepare it for storage however.

So long as a truck is properly prepped for storage it's not 'hard' on it, at all.. In fact, my 97 pickup looks and runs like new.

I always treat the fuel, change all the fluids and wax it before I put it away for the winter. The hard to store a vehicle is phooey in my opinion.

Confusion says... If it's brown, flush it down, if it's yellow, let it mellow....

2003 F150 Lariat plus cab 4.6 V-8 248,000 miles and still going strong.
Just sold my F-350 PSD DRW Crew Cab because it wasn't getting enough annual miles on it, it only had 148,000.

I just sold my 2003 Ford Excursion 4x4. It has 207,000 miles and never skipped a bit. I only sold it because a great deal on a 2015 Chevy 2500 Super crew four wheel drive fell into my lap.

200,000 on my 2003 duramax. And with the price of new trucks (60-70k). It will be another 200,000 before I get rid of it. I can do a lot of work on it for that kind of money.

I just bought a 272,000 mile 2004 Ram sight unseen at an auction 200 miles away. I figured it was so much less expensive than anything else I have looked at I could afford to repair just about anything major but it did have a limited 7 day powertrain warranty on the big stuff. So far so good, worst case it could use injectors and worst case I can put all new ones in for $2300. I don't think they are that bad but I'm going to take it in for a test.

I personally like high mileage newer stuff. I feel 30k a year is almost no harder on a vehicle than 10k a year. Long highway runs are better than short city commutes. I would take the lower mileage at a similar price but the discount they give on the high mileage is what draws me to them. I helped my brother buy a Focus that somebody got 65,000 miles on in one year alone. I've also had really low mileage cars as well, I had a 5 year old Dakota once with only 12,000 miles on it when I sold it. Once something gets to be older (like 20 or 30+ years) then what has been replace and when is important. Something with 60k on it that old still could have every single part fail at any moment at that age regardless of the mileage.

"limited 7 day powertrain warranty!" I had to read that twice! Glad to see they have SOME confidence in it!
