Hitch changes needed ????

I'm changing my TV from a F150 to a F250 due to a longer and heavier TT. I was planning on using the same hitch on the F250.
Other than the change with the larger receiver on the F250, are there any other guidelines. e.g. should the weight distribution bars be raised or lower?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Other than adjusting for any difference in ball height between the two trucks, I wouldn't expect to change the W/D set-up at all...the camper's tongue weight hasn't changed.

Longer or shorter wheelbase may require a change. If the new truck is a diesel you may not see as much weight coming off the front axle as well due to a much heavier front end on the F250 diesel.

What do you mean by 'larger receiver on the F250'? I would think they are both 2" receivers.

Many newer F250's have a 2.5 inch receiver that are rated higher than my 2 inch 12.5K rated receiver.

I bought an F350 dually a couple of months ago that has a 2.5" hitch receiver. All I did was buy the reducer to take it down to a 2" and change the height of the tow ball on the actual hitch.

ibrjet and Hutch333id thanks for the education, I wasn't aware of the 2 1/2" receiver.

I went from a F150 to a F350 and I am using the equalizer hitch. I am using the reducer on mine also, I had to start from scratch setting up the equalizer due to the F350 being higher and stiffer springs. My advise is to start from the beginning on your hitch set up. I had to buy a new shank with a longer drop. Contacted equalizer and they did not make a 2 1/2" shank with the drop I needed.

The 2.5 is a class five receiver. They are rated to 18,000# and 2500 tongue with WDH.
