Hitch Receiver sticker numbers question

Hi all,

I have a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado that I will be using to tow a small travel trailer. I have a question about the numbers on the sticker (picture attached). Am I correct that the 900# number is max weight for the receiver and also meaning max tongue weight allowable on the receiver? I apologize for upside down picture. If there's a way to fix please let me know.

I understand how tongue weight effects payload.

YEP, 900lbs tongue weight maximum, 7,700lb trailer weight maximum.

Here you go. I’m sure you understand that your truck weight ratings most likely will be different than the hitch ratings.

Those max numbers are for the receiver ONLY and not necessarily what your truck is spec'd for.
Depending on how your truck is configured, you could have less tongue and weight capacity.

Thank you all for clarifying and the picture fix. The truck is rated for only 7000# and I have 1450 payload available so I will hit that way before I would want to get close to that heavy a tow.

You have the right numbers to get started with.
And check the truck's owners manual and go to the Towing section. It should have no WDH/with WDH numbers listed.

So GM allows a 11.7 % tongue weight with their hitch at max tow rating. Seems Ford is always 10%.

I consider 10% tongue weight an absolute minimum. Terrible things can happen with tongue weights below that number.
