Hooking safety chains to 2015 chevy 2500

So I went to hook up the our trailer to check the fit of everything. Everything went well until I tried to hook the safety chains up. Looks like Chevy fully boxed around the hitch on the 2015 and my chains will not fit around the boxed out cut outs. I am thinking of some smaller shackles or quick links but I think they might not span the openings.

What did you all do for your 2015 2500's? Thanks.

You didn't provide a open dimension but I've used large open S hooks or quick links rated for the load +.

When I had my bumper pull with my '15 duramax I had to put the chains on from the back to the front.

My 14 duramax 3500 had a narrower opening on the side of receiver I was able to hook my old tt chains to.

Whatever you end up with, make sure your chains are long enough, or you'll end up doing this if you turn too sharply backing up:

You will have to go to your local hardware home center and get a couple large quick links. This is fairly common to do. I've had to do it with my F150 and my 2500HD

Try comibg from top forward rather than bottoms back with hooks. They will fit.

Had the same problem with my 2012 Silverado 2500 HD and my boat trailer. I just went to Lowes and purchased larger tow hooks.

As VinceU says, make sure that hooks, shackles, extra chain ... are rated for more than the load.
