Hope they make it

I haven't posted for a long time, but we pulled up to a rest stop today, and these folks were parked close by. I had to take a pic.

I hope they make it to their destination OK.

And without harming others

They are not only putting themselves at risk, but everyone else on the road. I certainly wouldn't want to drive that.

Then again, they may have been driving like that for a thousand miles without a problem.

Probably don't drive as fast as those who don't have the "Swayback" look.

Moved to Towing/Tow Vehicles sub-forum, to show affects of single axle TT on a marginal tow vehicle with no WDH.
Look how far back the axle is. That puts a higher percentage of the trailer's weight on the tongue.

And wonder why the tires aren’t holding up and the power train glitches before it’s 100k. Hope they make their vacation without incident.

Should "we" report folks we see like this?

Would you report a unsecured load on a semi?

This is death waiting to happen. Just a couple "bigger picture" questions I have.

What law would you cited? If hitch is attached nothing is unsecured.

Do you know how many times cops all over the country have to tell people "sorry bit stupid is not against the law"?

No one to report it to. More than likely they will get where they are going. Not saying this is smart but not necessarily illegal.

Don't know the specs on either the TV or TT. The size of TT looks to be not that overwhelming for the size of the TV, though the TV appears to be well overloaded. The real problem is the hitch is drastically not set up correctly to proper ball height and weight distribution bars. You'd almost have to assume that is how they picked the TT up from the dealer. I'd want to know who the dealer was so I could stay far away from them.

I don't think they are traveling down the road with the steps out, as the steps appear to be the new type that swing up behind the door, so the feet would be on the ground meaning the driver and maybe others are probably inside the TT. If I had seen the driver, I might have mentioned to them something about the unconventional set up. Provided that the DW let me, if you know what I mean.

Last year I mentioned to a driver at a truck stop how his awning was coming out, which most likely was caused by the 25 mph winds we were traveling in that day. He had no idea it was coming out and was thankful I told him. The DW thought I should have let it alone, but I had the same thing happen to me in a very high wind situation and only found it by luck at a rest stop in the dark when I did a quick walk around before taking off.

Hope they make it!!!!

Will the tow vehicle launch into the air when a dip is encountered at any speed?

That hitch doesn't look like one rated for that TT. It looks like something you would pick up to tow a little trailer for an ATV.

That looks like a current generation Toyota 4Runner with a 5000lb tow rating. Should be good enough to tow the E-Pro. But it sure looks like it's cargo capacity was exceeded.
The question seems to be, "should we approach the driver and politely tell him of the danger"?
As we have seen, many strangers reject other strangers sticking their nose in their business.
All you can do is start a conversation and see what happens.
