Ideal Trailer for The Toyota 4Runner

My wife and I have a 2011 Toyota 4Runner Trail V6 and we are looking for a good travel trailer.

Is there anyone that has this same vehicle? If so, what trailer do you have and how do you like it?

an oft-quoted towing rule is the 80% rule.
it's a ballpark number to work with. it will account for passengers and cargo in the tow vehicle.
so, since your 4-runner's towing capacity is 5000lbs., that would mean a trailer with a max of 4000lbs.
having only a 5000lbs. towing capacity limits your options, as far as travel trailers.

i would look at the Mini-Lite or Micro-Lite lines for your Toyota. these will be within range of your v-6 vehicle.

how many will be staying in the trailer?

I will take a look at the Mini-Lite and Micro-Lite.

We have been looking at the Fun Finder and the Jay Feather. Do you have an opinion about these two trailers?

never looked at a Fun-Finder but have heard good things.
the Jayco is a well made brand and has had a good track record.
Jayco was our second choice when we were shopping for a hybrid. they just didn't have a floorplan we liked. they do now.

For just the two of you, a Vibe or R-Pod would be good options as well. The R-Pods run lower weights and will keep your gas spending down if you do some longer trips. I also really like the outdoor kitchen option for the R-Pods as well as the hybrid-like tent expansion room (can only have one or the other, sadly). The Vibes are also very nice and run low weights. If it was just the GF and me, I would go with a R-Pod 181G or the Vibe 6502. Happy hunting!

Check in your owners manual about reduction of tow capacity at altitude. Honda states that for every 1000 ft, deduct 200 lbs of tow weight. I can pull at 8000 ft, but it's a strain.

Don't know what conditions you are planning on but as always good information to have.

the mini lite is wider than the fun finder which makes a big difference in space inside. Small trailers with full width are quite rare and most of the small trailers are 78, 84 and 90 inches versus 96 for the mini lite and the micro lite.
