I think you might be overthinking it....
My wife and I purchased our first 5ver 2 years ago with overall length at 40.5’. putting bikes inside (as we did in previous TT) was not an option. After doing
Some research we purchased a receiver-type bike rack for back of RV. However, bike rack was specifically made for RV’s (Swagman/Targus?)). Holds the bikes much firmer. Further, bought the “screw-in” type receiver pin to eliminate rack bouncing around inside the receiver. Absolutely love the new style racks available today. Bikes don’t move! Would rather have inside away from the elements, but this is a great 2nd option!

Jack-it

We use a rack called a jack-it. If mounts to the tongue jack and sits above the propane tanks, so u have access to them. Works great

Jack-It Bike Rack

Currently I have them on the front of my f350 which isn't too bad except in the dark as they block "some" of my headlights. I don't want to put them in my bed as my trailer does not have much storage so the bed of my truck is already filled when we go on long trips. I was thinking about building my own headache rack that the side rails run the length of my bed and weld a 2 inch receiver tube about 3" above the bed cover and put my rack in there. I don't think height will be an issue, I will still be lower than a 5th wheel. Does anyone have any insight before I buy a couple hundred dollars worth of steel and spend a weekend welding. Are there any other ideas I can try before I go this route?

The truck is a 2018 F350 CCSB and the trailer is a 2018 flagstaff 30wtbsv, if anyone has any good Ideas let me know.
I saw this rack on a rental bumper-tow trailer this spring. It’s the first viable solution for our A frame tongue, with the batteries and propane tanks consuming all available space on the tongue. I looked at the bike bunk, but just no space for it. This fits in between your tongue jack, utilizing the same holes, so no extra drilling. I have a Ridgerider from Undercover as my tonneau cover. It comes with cross bars which can be installed with or without the cover on. I then use Yakima bike carriers on the bars. Have well over 12,000 miles with no issues.

Do you turn it backwards? It looks like it would hit the front cap on my trailer. I don't have much room at all.

Dang, never paid close attention to the tongues on those V-nose trailers, not much to work with there.

No there isn't, it hard to even get wd to work. I can only use a few of them. Also no boondocking for me as there is only enough room for one battery without some undercarriage modifications and a lot of work.

But it's all worth it for the closet in the bunk room for the kids and the "master suite" on the other end for my wife and I. There was no other tt that suited us but didn't break the bank since we didn't know how everything was going to go, it was our first camper. Now we know we love it so we are planning to run this one for a while then get a 5th wheel.

You might check out Hollywood Racks for a 2 bike rack that fits on the 2” x 2” stub on my Roadmaster towbar just b4 the stub fits into the receiver on my Georgetown.

I run a 2.5 inch receiver and have 3 bikes soon to be 4 so that won't work for me. Neat idea though and may work for someone else with a v nose trailer but I think it would still be tight.

I have the rv safe swagman quad 2+2 and that rack is amazing. It is solid and away free no bouncing at all except when they are on the back of the trailer. It is probably because of the bumper hitch but it is right near the support as I offset the hitch so the spare still fits with it and I don't want to go through welding a hitch back there and it still not be up to my standards. I have the furrion observation camera and I just sit there and cringe as we are driving down the road. We are also from the pothole capital of the world, which may also be why the bikes bounce worse for me.

In post #3, the OP stated he had a V-nose TT.

Do you know what "bike tights "are? You could mount one at each side on the bed rail right behind the cab to hold the fork tight and bolt a piece of c channel farther back on the rail to hold the rear wheel. You will need to strap down the rear wheel or the bike itself to keep it pinned down. The handle bars and peddles should be inboard of the tow mirrors.

I just googled bike tights and it came up exactly how I thought. I don't think latex leggings are going to help keep my bikes safe during travel.

On a serious note though, I have a 29" with a 17.5 frame and 2, 27.5" bikes with 15.5" frames so bed rails would only help for 2 of them. My little one is in a weehoo bike trailer now but soon we will be putting a bike on there for her too.

This is what we have: The Jack-It Double Bike Carrier. https://www.campingworld.com/jack-it...sz=21&start=32

It goes in the front of your trailer. DH had to do a few tweaks to get it over our power jack. Hope this helps! Safe travels & happy camping!!

They're known as "bike block fork mounts". Cost around $15 each.

Bike rack

I am very happy w/ my V-front but it is a challenge to mount a bike rack to. Using a Kuat tray rack w/ frame mount 2" receiver hitch. Only concern is on steep drives, dragging. So far best solution is my Trac Rack on bed rails w/ Yakima mounts.
