By draining your aux tank into main tain you dont need a guage on the aux tank, as it will show your main tank factory guage. Great idea, and well done.

i put an 45 gallon RDS tank in my 2013 dually that gives me a total of about 80 gallons
so that put me in the 800 mile range
It just gives me the ability to be more picky when and where i fill up

I agree. I should of added extra tank or larger replacement tank when I bought the truck in 2006. The extra range and the piece of mind of not having to know where every fuel station is nice. I can be more picky on where to purchase fuel.

I was reading up on this valve as I prefer the idea of a motorized ball valve, but from what I could tell it's just for water. Are you sure this valve is rated for flammable liquids?

That is the reason I used 1/2" fuel line from aux to fuel tank. It will dump the fuel in a short amount of time. I do not power solenoid for longer than 30 minutes. The solenoid has a power rating of 20 watts, it will take awhile for it to get dangerous hot.
