Question Installed struts today, any idea what these nuts are for

I installed struts onto the Trailblazer today. Figured after 117,000 miles on the factory struts it was time for some new ones... Anyways install went without issue but the struts came with two nuts..

There is not anywhere that I can see to have used them other than the two top mount bolts where the strut is secured to the vehicles strut mounts. I tried this but they would not thread onto the tabs. As seen in the one photo the tops are "squeezed" out of round. I though it was a mistake but the other set was the same way... Any thoughts???

It is a lock nut and should be installed to the top of the strut.

Hmmm I tried getting it to even start threading on and it would not... is it suposed to be tapped on to get it to start? I put the chevy nut back on in the mean time. I had not tried the impact gun only a ratchet.

They have always started for me. If the Chevy nut is in good shape, I would leave it as is an not worry about it.

Yeah. I'll look at them again but that was what I was thinking.

Standard crush nut (self locking) for the struts. If the factory one looked good including the nylock, crush lock or lock nut then you should be fine.
