Installing Tranny Temp Gauge in '07 F-150

Just ordered an Auto Meter tranny temp gauge for the 2007 Ford F-150.

Going to mount it where the "coin holder" is now, where the 4WD switch would be if it had 4WD.

Question: I need to find switched battery power, instrument light dimmer power, to tap into behind the dash. Where?? What color wires?

Also, I understand there is a plug on the tranny that can be removed and the temp sender installed in its place. Which side and where on the tranny is this?

When I get this done, all the mods to the tow vehicle will be complete!

Jeese why don'tcha wait until you get the destructions and read 'em??

On my F350 the tranny plug is on the driver's side (I think, I'm not going to crawl underneath it right now). Power. Hmm................. If I remember correctly (which often isn't the case) I used the cig lighter power as it is switched (I think). I also have a seperate power power point that isn't.

Yeah I know not much help. Actually kinda wishy-washy now that I read it.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!!

For the dimmer I pull the light switch and use a 12 volt tester to find the wire to the dimmer by turning the wheel that adjust the lights for the instrument panel when the bulb in the tester went dim and back to bright when I turned the wheel I just tap into it not sure of wire color cause mines a chevy. You can tap into the radio for ignition also use test light and turn key on and off, hope that helps some

All that poking around I understand. I just didn't want to DO it.
I was hoping somebody would know/remember the wire colors.

Oh well. I guess I'll figger it out. I used to work in a place that made broadcast radio transmitters so this ain't no big deal. Of course the transmitter shop had schematics!

Radio,

I don't know if you have seen the scan gauges or not, but I think all you have to do is find +12v and connect to ODB II connector. They are much higher, but they can be programmed to monitor all kinds of information.

Take a look at this link.
