Do you want to find how much your brakes work? Unplug your rig and drive down a side road. Now try to stop without trailer brakes. You will now see how much they do work for you. Don't ask me how I know!!

I did get a message on the dash screen about setting up the brakes but when I went into the set up mode I could only set up where I wanted the display icons located (compass, etc). Nothing about the brake set up. The trucks owners manual not much help. Thanks!!

On my new 2015 Ram 2500HD, I see the display showing the trailer is hooked up and the voltage moving when I step on the brakes or press the IBC buttons. However, I don't really feel like the brakes are engaging. It makes me wonder if I don't have something set up correctly?
Thanks for any help.
No you don't but you should be in Tow/Haul mode when you're towing anyway. It's no use trying to out-think the original engineers of the vehicle although that seems to be a pastime for some.

I'm guessing if you have a sliding lever to activate the trailer brakes manually, and two buttons (+ -) you probably set the gain similar to all other vehicles.

Here's GM's setup for the controller.....

Drive the vehicle with the trailer
attached on a level road surface
representative of the towing
condition and free of traffic at
about 32 to 40 km/h (20 to
25 mph) and fully apply the
Manual Trailer Brake Apply
Lever.
Adjusting Trailer Gain at speeds
lower than 32 to 40 km/h (20 to
25 mph) may result in an
incorrect gain setting.
2. Adjust the Trailer Gain, using the
Trailer Gain Adjustment Buttons,
to just below the point of trailer
wheel lock-up, indicated by
trailer wheel squeal or tire
smoke when a trailer wheel
locks.
Trailer wheel lock-up may not
occur if towing a heavily loaded
trailer. In this case, adjust the
Trailer Gain to the highest
allowable setting for the towing
condition.
3. Readjust Trailer Gain anytime
vehicle loading, trailer loading,
or road surface conditions
change or if trailer wheel lock-up
is noticed at any time while
towing.
