I'm only about 3k miles into my F350 with 6.7 with about 650 miles towing our new 42' fifth that weighs around 14.5K. So far I'm averaging 14.8 mpg.
There is no difference however in stopping power! The braking with the F350 is sooooo much better. The ecoboost did well with the pulling but the smaller lighter F150 just didn't have the right stopping power.
The rest of my miles on both trucks is highway driving. I drive 300 miles a week for work on average. I never bought the F350 for mpg, but it does much better than I expected unloaded for mpg.
Went from a 2014 F150 FX4 SuperCrew Short Box EcoBoost. I loved that truck thought it was great as the last PU I owned was in 2006 when I had an Avalanche, F150 was far better. I towed my 7,000# Shast up and down mountains of PA with no trouble.
Got a 2016 F350 SCREW SB 6.7
Didn't buy it for MPG and use it as an everyday vehicle as well. Towing I get 14.7, HWY/CTY 18.5-19.5 and all highway 21-22
I am at 3100 on it and never go over 75 yet not at least until fist oil change at 5,000. I have added Blue DEF from Walmart 2.5 gallons it uses a lot towing but not as much daily driving.
I Love this truck with better suspension, F150 was too soft, Diesel braking is outrageous and just night and day towing.
