Is Equal-i-zer hitch Worth the $
Hey guys, I had my deal on a 27dbk go south. Now I got a new one going with a little local dealer for the same unit. Thinking about ditching the pro hitch set up that come with it and going with the Equal-i-zer. Is it worth the extra $. Also what model (set up would I need)? It 700 lbs hitch weight and 6500 trailer.

My trailer specs are about the same as yours. I love mine. No sway, even in strong cross winds, and can't even feel semis going by.

It’s a good one. Not the only one, but if you have the cash I would based on reputation.

That's what I use to pull my 2104S and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Just be prepared for the groaning and popping when backing up!

I got a good deal for one off Craigslist. The P O had bought a bigger trailer and needed the bigger hitch. Worth looking.
It is noisy in the turns but works.

The Equal-i-zer 4 point WDH is top notch and good value in my opinion. For a 6500# trailer, the 10k Equal-i-zer would be just fine. The best price I could find when I bought mine was at RVWholesalers.com.

It works on our TV/TT setup as I never have experienced any sway. It is the only one I have used so I can't say how it compares to others.

Agree that the 10000 lb equalizer will work well.

Once properly set up they work as advertised. As stated above even high gusts of wind from the side doesn't cause the trailer to sway. I know that I am happy with it and see no need to purchase another hitch.

I used one for several years with my 31' Airstream, I was towing with an F150. Once set up it did a great job.

Using 15000 Blue Ox on new 36' trailer now but ran 9 years with the EQ pulling 28' and 7000lbs. Loved it.

I got rid of most of the loud sound once I adjusted the arm supports so that the arms were pararell with the trailer frame.

My camper is about 7500lbs loaded out and I have the Equilizer-4 10,000lb hitch. I use the synthetic pads on the bars, keep the swing arm points lubricated and use a touch of lube on the hitch ball. It works great and stays pretty quiet.

It’s worth it, I found mine used for $250. I also bought the little nylon sliders that go on the L bracket and made the hitch almost silent. Equalizer also guaranteed that it still provided friction control with them on.

I got them off amazon for under $20. They’re made by equalizer. Good equality.

They reduced the noise just a little.
Lubing the ball and the brackets was much more effective than the bracket jackets. There will be some folks chime in that lubing the Brackets reduces the effectiveness of the sway control. It does not in any way, and the manufacturer agrees.

I also use the "bracket jackets" and the Equal-i-zer lube on the hitch head but I use Vaseline for the hitch ball. Before lubricating and using the bracket jackets it was very loud (and embarrassing) when turning through campgrounds but now its much quieter. Since they are all sold by Equal-i-zer I figure they are perfectly acceptable and I haven't noticed any significant reduction in sway control.
