Jeep Cherokee Wobbles When Towed
Last year, Family Motor Coaching Magazine brought a problem to Fiat Chrysler America that some 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokees would wobble while being towed 4 wheels down specially on bumpy roads. Engineers and technicians at FCA dug into the problem and came up with a resolution.
"The vehicle's Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system is inactive while the vehicle is being flat-towed with the ignition in the "off" position so does not benefit from the system's function."
Several dozen customers are known to have this problem. They will be contacted, and FCA will "provide a complimentary jumper wire harness and switch to ensure the vehicle's EPS system has power to function while it is being flat-towed."
The parts were to become available as early as January 29th of this year. I have contacted Jeep at (877) 426-5337 this week but staff there had not heard of this and my dealer who should be delivering a new Cherokee to me next week has not been notified yet.
