Want a real easy setup, especially on a Jeep, go with magnetics.

Ok, I think I may have found an option. Pilot magnetic tow lights, part # NV-5164. I've seen similar that local tow truck drivers use. These are wireless magnetic mount and use the motorhome plug with a transmitter. I kinda like this option as it bypasses the Jeep wiring altogether, no splicing and easy to change if I want to change vehicles. I will try these and if it doesn't work good. I will go with the diode kit. Thanks

Then there's wiring, slapping the side of your jeep for miles.
The mopar kit is a factory kit.
No splicing, no diodes, no running wiring under the jeep, drilling holes in the light housings.
Just seems like a lot of work, when there is an alternative.

There is no wiring with the kit I'm getting, it's completely wireless. There's plenty of sheet metal on the side by the stock taillights for a magnet.

I adderesed the same demons, wanting brakes but the lights conflicted. Two seperate vehicle computers dont talk well togther, somebody is going to lose..

781124: TrailerMate 2007-2013 Jeep Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles
This is plug and play to the lamp sockets.
I use this on a 2015 wrangler with an automatic. Drilled one hole under the right tail light and ran the wiring up the passenger side frame to the six pin connector on the base plate. I use a stock 7pin (coach) to 6 pin (toad) power cord. I do not unhook my battery, infact I run a battery buddy that keeps the toad battery charging while being towed by using the always hot from the 7 pin (only allows current one way to toad from coach). This allows me to use the always hot center console 12v for the patriot brake ( set at 2, only for emergency braking to keep jeep brakes cool).

I do pull two toad fuses (M1, M37) that prevents brake signals from conflicting with the coach. You could run a brake light cut off switch, I found the fuses easier. I did lose my toad tag plate light with this set up as the added wiring does not connect to it.

Blue ox plate and bar. Over 10,000 miles. No problem. Oh, and the odometer does not record tug miles...

"Harry" always goes with us.....

From what I had read I got a bad feeling about the mopar install, I could have been wrong but the way I went seems to be less invasive in the end....

Hey fiat, you listen'en? Offer a toad package with wiring and baseplate factory installed. I would heave dropped a grand for that option.. throw in some kinda front protection too. And while I'm a wishen add a camera that can see the right rear of the toad with a line feed to the cable for coach use.....

The mopar kit is as close to factory as you can get.
It plugs right in, with factory connectors.
If you wanted it as an option, they would put this kit in..
